The LibraryCraft League is returning for 2024!

Time for season 3 of the LC League!

Like the AFL, it’s a round robin style tournament that will be on for a number of weeks. Each registered player will get the opportunity to verse each other player in the competition, but there’s a difference. This isn’t just one minigame, in 2024 it’s four – BedWars, KitPVP, TNT Run and Spleaf. Each week will be on a different map, with the exception of KitPVP, which has a new, dedicated map!

Starting Friday April 5th, matches will be played each week, but strictly between Friday afternoons and Sunday nights – no matches during the week, so you can all focus on school! This is so it’s fair to everyone that can’t play during the week. You won’t be able to verse every person on every map, as it’d take forever – if we get 16 players registered, it’ll be a 16 week competition, plus more for a finals series.

Like with our other tournaments, it’s up to each player to sort out their matches. Matches will be available on the LC League Island (image above) in the Minigames Lobby at the start of each week.

If matches are not played between Friday afternoons and Sunday nights, they cannot be delayed to the following week or weekend. The player that puts the least amount of effort in to scheduling a match will be forfeited.

KitPVP Changes for 2024

As KitPVP is now a cumulative scoring system, not per match, it makes it a little harder to set up, so we’re doing things a little differently for PVP. The new map (seen above) called 10Themes Arena will be limited to 3 players in the world – the two players and a moderator. This world is a priority world for the League players that need it, plus a mod.

The moderator will be in at the same time to run the stopwatch and do the count of deaths. You’ll have 5 minutes to play! You’ll also know who the moderator is before the match starts.

Points & Scoring

Each match you play earns you points, regardless of if you win or not!

Win: 2 points
Lose: 1 point
Forfeit: 0 points

You need to actually play to get a point! The opponent of the forfeited player will get an automatic 2 points.

Once you’ve played your match, it is the responsibility of the players to confirm the results in the League Discord channel, or in an in game mail to Johnsan if you don’t have Discord access.

IMPORTANT: You’re better off playing and losing instead of forfeiting. You’ll improve your chances of getting into the finals series.

Prizes

Up for grabs are some diamond blocks and mega crate keys for the top three at the end of the finals series, and the top two (winner and runner-up) get an exclusive rank on the server itself for the following year – League Champion, and League Runner-Up.

Also up for grabs this year are some JB HiFi vouchers! $100 for the League Champion, and $50 for the League Runner-Up.

Registration

To register, send JohnsanGeezo a mail in game. Registration is free, but you need to be available to play each weekend in order to complete your matches and get those points. Registrations close Monday 25th March at 9pm. No registrations will be taken once the competition has started.

Once registered, you’ll get the LC League Discord role and access to the League channel. The first match-ups will be available on Friday March 29th, to be played the following weekend, from Friday April 5th.

Ladder

The LC League page will be updated on the website that will include the full season draw (the matches), and the current ladder, plus this information and a little more closer to the date.

Last season was a big one (and a lot of fun), so make sure you register for the third annual LC League competition, and ask in game or in Discord if you have any questions.

March Creative Competition – One Scene

We’ve had a great start to competitions in 2024, so let’s keep it going. March is fast approaching, so it’s come time to announce the next competition theme! Next month we know you all like your movies, TV shows and YouTube series, so we’re going with One Scene. Build us one single scene from your favourite movie or show!

We’ve also got an extra rule for this one too – please leave a sign on your build letting us know what movie or show the scene is from.

Remember, each month counts in terms of points, plus there’s the Builder Rank Competition too – the GOLD bordered plots are for Builders only – do not claim these if you are not a builder. If you do, we will clear them without warning, regardless of whether there’s builds on it or not.

The March Competition world gate – located in the Creative Lobby – will replace the February gate which will close to building at 9pm on Thursday February 29th.

The gate will open in the Creative Lobby on the morning of March 1st, so get thinking about your build! Thank you to Backward_Nemo for the gate build this month! A very appropriate theatre stage! Brilliant.

Season 1, 2024 Prizes

As you know, each month we give away the following prizes to regular players:

  • 1st Prize: 4x diamond blocks, 1x mega crate key & 15 Emerald Points
  • 2nd Prize: 3x diamond blocks, 1x mega crate key & 10 Emerald Points
  • 3rd Prize: 2x diamond blocks, 1x mega crate key & 5 Emerald Points
  • Honourable mention (1 vote): 1 Emerald Point

Each month the Emerald Points are tallied up and can be seen in the Emerald Hall on the Survival Lobby world. At the halfway point of the season (March for Season 1 and September for Season 2) we give away prizes to the current top three Emerald Points winners:

  • 1st Place: 1x $25 JB HiFi Voucher
  • 2nd Place: 1x $10 JB HiFi Voucher
  • 3rd Place: 1x $10 JB HiFi Voucher

At the end of the season (June and December), the grand prizes are awarded to the final top three Emerald Points winners from across the 6 months of competition. These are the big ones! This season we’re giving away:

  • 1st Prize: $250 worth of LEGO! It’ll be in the form of a LEGO store voucher, sent online. Nice and easy!

  • 3rd Prize: $50 JB HiFi Voucher

The parallel Builders Creative Competition will be judged at the same time, with the overall winner each season getting a $50 JB HiFi voucher.

January Use Redstone Results

We’re already a month in to 2024! Time flies when you’re having fun. We’ve had a huge Christmas holidays with loads of action all over LibraryCraft, including our biggest Monthly Competition to date. We got a huge amount of entries for this competition – many of you really know how to use redstone in your builds! It was a great mixture of redstone as both contraptions and design elements.

We also held our first Builder Creative Competition this month, with builders entering their own competition with the same theme. We’ll get to the builder competition after the main competition’s honourable mentions.

Unfortunately we did have to disqualify a couple of entries for not sticking to the rules – one player and one builder, so make sure you read all the rules for each competition before you start!

Let’s take a look at the results for the main Emerald Points Competition first.

1st Place: RubyBird12

While relatively unassuming from the outside, the beauty of this build lies within. Ruby has created a museum of music, with four genres of music created using note blocks! This was fantastic to explore and listen to. It must have been a lot of work getting it all tuned! Well done Ruby. With that win, it makes her 3rd win, so Ruby is now a Builder! Congratulations Ruby!

2nd Place: 0_Mad_0

Mad has secured 2nd place two months in a row with a digital number display and Redstone monster! This was really cool to play with and the use of flowing lava as the monster’s tongue was great.

3rd Place: CopperJay

CopperJay went with a redstone trimmed and detailed mansion! With smaller redstone details dotted around and a striking amethyst roof, this would be a great build to see in 120Survival!

Well done to our three winners! We also had seven honourable mentions this round. This was clearly a really tough competition to judge!

Builder Creative Competition Results

We had two points scorers for the first month of Builder competition! To find out more about the Builder competition, read the post! It’ll also cover the rest of the Builder role.

1st Place: Meowlicky

Meow went with a quartz hall of wonders, featuring a song and a dancefloor! This took a fair bit of work, with Meow logging a big number of hours on this build. We particularly liked the large redstone torch on the roof. It’s very exciting to see builders being able to enter competitions again!

2nd Place: JtripleM

J is back with a massive sticky piston pushing a cake into the air, complete with some redstone wire and a huge lever. The details on the cake really show some freeze frame motion. This was a really clever entry.

Here’s what the leaderboards look like after a month of competition.

Please make sure you collect your items quickly, or you will risk losing them!

February Creative Competition – Something You Love

We’re a month in! February is going to be here very soon, which means time for another theme! Next month we’re giving the Valentine’s Day idea a twist, with Something You Love.

If you love it, let us know! If it’s not as obvious, leave a sign or two.

Remember, each month counts in terms of points, plus there’s the Builder Rank Competition too – the GOLD bordered plots are for Builders only – do not claim these if you are not a builder. If you do, we will clear them without warning, regardless of whether there’s builds on it or not. This will be the case each month going forward.

The February Competition world gate – located in the Creative Lobby – will replace the January gate which will close to building at 9pm on Wednesday January 31st.

The gate will open in the Creative Lobby on the morning of February 1st, so get thinking about your build! A huge thanks to minywire for the gate build this month! It’s a massive Minecraft themed cat scratching post!

The LibraryCraft Hermitcraft Scavenger Hunt is here!

School Holidays are almost over, but we’ve still got plenty of fun planned in LibraryCraft! Many of us are big Hermitcraft fans, so we thought we’d do something fun to get people exploring and possibly score some good loot in the process.

For those of you that don’t know what Hermitcraft is, it’s a private server created for and by YouTube content creators and Twitch streamers. The hermits create massive and intricate builds and have a heap of fun together, all while creating content for their channels. Season 9 has just wrapped up in the last month, and the builds were incredible.

We’ve decided to place a few of the builds around the 120Survival Map for you to find and explore (seen in the partial images above), but there’s a twist, and it all starts in the new Map Room, seen below, located at 120Spawn. The ruins themselves are a combined creation of two of the current hermits, Bdoubleo100 and Grian!

Not long after this article is published, the stairs to the room below the globe will be opened. The big map in the centre of the room shows the rough locations of the eight locations to find.

Each of these locations will have a sign with an alphabet cipher. You’re going to need a pen and paper with you for this, and it will take a while, so take your time! There’s no end time to this challenge.

Write down the symbols and letters that you find. The eight signs will have a selection of letters you need.

On three of those eight locations will also be some extra coded signs that make up some X, Y and Z coordinates. With these coordinate signs will also be another word. When you get to the coordinate location, think about those words – the final location’s information will be waiting for you to decode.

At your final location (you’ll know it when you see it) there will be a button to press. ONLY PRESS IT ONCE! You’ll be given a piece of paper with a code word. That code word will need to be mailed to JohnsanGeezo in order to collect your prize. What’s the prize? A shulker box full of goodies, including the heads of six of the builders of the locations to find – Bdubs, Grian, Scar, Ren, Gem & Pearl. Your name will also go up in the Map Room to show you’ve completed it.

Edit: You’ll also now get access to 120Skyland, a custom floating island Survival world!

We’re really excited for you all to check out the scavenger hunt. We had a heap of fun putting it together. A massive thank you to the Hermits for building incredible things to explore! It’s always awesome checking out what the pros can do.

Albany Competition – Winning Entries!

We’ve had a brilliant day in Albany last week, with heaps of people coming to Albany Library to say hi and see what the server is all about, plus play some great board games and get stuck into the Nintendo Switch!

Firstly, thank you so much to Albany Library for having us – we had a blast! We set everyone there a challenge – build something tropical in 30 minutes and we got some excellent entries. Well done to everyone who entered! We had builders that had never touched Java Edition before, and some more seasoned players. You all did really well! It took us a while to get our top three, but here they are.

If you see your build below, please get in touch with Albany Library and they’ll be able to connect you with your prizes! We’ve got a LEGO set for 1st prize (21319 Central Perk), and a $20 EB Games voucher for 2nd and 3rd.

In the top three we had two Albany locals new to the server, and one player that we’ve had for a long time – one of our first whitelisted actually! We really hope all the players we’ve had in the competition that are new will join the server really soon! It’ll be great to see them online.

1st Place: Albany Local

We loved the detail in this build – the cake and food options in the beach hut, the swimming hole, and the beaches on the sand!

2nd: Albany Local

The coral reef was so vibrant in this one, and the trees are really well built. Well done!

3rd: imaginemode

Imaginemode came up with a brilliantly detailed pineapple, that also included some honey blocks for the fruit inside, and a two block Spongebob Squarepants living inside! Super clever and the banners were a spot on detail. Well done imagine!

Again, thanks so much and a well done to all our entrants. If you met us at Albany Library on Friday, you can apply to join the server if you have a Java Edition account of your own! We’d really love to see you be a part of this awesome community.

We’re running a 1 Day competition in Albany!

As you’ll hopefully know by now, we’re heading to Albany for a big day of LibraryCraft fun on Friday! We’ll be there all day, chatting to people and playing on the server, and we’ll also be running a competition for those of you that are there on the day – you can see the map in the image above!

The theme for the competition is Tropical. You’ll need to put your name down for a slot (the links are in the original article linked above) in order to compete. You’ll be limited to 30 minutes to build in one plot.

Players that are online but not in the building on the day will not be able to compete – this is for players in the building using our logins. Otherwise it’s too hard for us to keep an eye on build times.

There will be some prizes available for the winners of the competition, including some LEGO!

We’re really looking forward to seeing heaps of people there on the day. We can’t wait!

January Creative Competition – Use Redstone

Christmas is around the corner, and so is the new year! That means a restart to the creative competition season, and in this case, the start of the parallel Builder Creative Competition! To kick it off, we’re going with a theme of Use Redstone.

This doesn’t mean complicated laggy redstone contraptions! If, like me, you’re no good at redstone contraptions, you can incorporate redstone blocks and wire as a primary part of your build. This should be fun!

We’re adding another rule to this month though – all redstone contraptions MUST have an on/off switch. They can’t be running constantly. If we do find them running constantly, we will break them in order to stop them.

It’s the first competition of the season, so make it count by starting off right!

The GOLD bordered plots are for Builders only – do not claim these if you are not a builder. If you do, we will clear them without warning, regardless of whether there’s builds on it or not. This will be the case each month going forward.

The January Competition world gate – located in the Creative Lobby – will replace the December gate which will close to building at 9pm on Sunday December 31st.

The gate will open in the Creative Lobby on the morning of January 1st, so get thinking about your build! A huge thanks to vinemon for the gate build this month! It’s a lot of fun.

November Skyscraper Build Competition Results

It’s results time again! The November Skyscraper Build Competition has wrapped up and we’ve had some really big builds! We’ve just got one more competition to finish off for the year before we launch into Season 1, 2024. Man, it’s weird writing that!

Also, we announced last week some changes to the Builder rank in the server and one of those changes comes into effect this round – will we get a new Builder? Read on to find out.

On to the results!

1st Place: Meowlicky

He’s done it! Win number 3 for Meowlicky means that he’s scored the Builder role after over a year of competitions. And what a build to do it with! A massive skyscraper. This one dominated the skyline.

Smaug has created a beautiful and clean, twisting tower. This was a beauty to see first up as you enter the world. Well done Smaug!

3rd Place: FantasticFun

FantasticFun has come up with a wood based design, similar to the Empire State Building, with a nice landscaped area below. There’s also a simple interior. Well done Fan!

A massive congratulations to our three winners! We also had two honourable mention this rounds, so more points scorers for the leaderboard!

The Head Games is coming back!

That’s right, it’s been over two years, but the Head Games is coming back for the Christmas holidays and Term 1, 2024!

Nearly every mob has a chance to drop it’s head on death. Each head (for the most part – there are some that won’t count), is worth points! Some are better than others – the points list will be made available when the competition begins on Saturday December 16th.

Whoever has the most points at the end of the competition (Friday April 7th, 2024), will win – 1st, 2nd and 3rd! In the past there have been a HUGE amount of goodies to win and you can donate prizes as well! Treasure blocks like diamond, netherite, gold, iron, coal and more, plus other goodies too. Drop them into the prize pool hopper at the new Head Games HQ (the HGHQ) by 120 Survival Spawn.

Update: There’s also now three LEGO sets for the top three points scorers!

  • 1st: 31132 Viking Ship & the Midgard Serpent
  • 2nd: 76394 Fawkes, Dumbledore’s Phoenix
  • 3rd: 76181 DC Batman Batmobile: The Penguin Chase

Each registered player will get a chest at the HGHQ with a hopper – the pig’s head statue holds the entrance, which will open on December 16th. Drop VALID heads into your hopper to submit them.

Some things to note:

  • Don’t submit heads that do not score points
  • Don’t submit non head items
  • Don’t name the heads – leave them as they are
  • Heads from the /heads plugin are different and do not count
  • Extra point heads will be offered from time to time
  • Farms to collect heads are allowed, but ONLY if the mobs die by a player’s hand – handheld weapons only
  • Points will be calculated each Monday, with a hologram leaderboard available at the HGHQ.

To register, simply drop 1 DIAMOND BLOCK with your name on it into the central hopper at the HeadGames HQ by 9pm December 15th.

Let the games begin!
