Update: The closing date has come and gone, and our five winners are:
Ezrafixpros
HeyItsGreee
Dragoncosmo222
Meowlicky
Endrock6
You’ll find your prizes waiting for your collection at the Prize Greenhouse!
We’re in the middle of getting a big activity set up for people to get stuck into in 121Survival, but while we’re working on it, we thought we’d get you warmed up a little!
Wonder what we’re giving away? It’s a shulker box filled with loot! There’s a catch though.
While the loot is decent, there’s only 5 shulker boxes to give away. The winners will be chosen at random at 9pm on Monday 21st July.
What do I do?
At 121Spawn there are three greenhouses. In each of those greenhouses is a sign with a keyword. Make sure you write them down! You’ll need them later. Get all three and they will direct you to a final location, where you will need to read the instructions on the wall and press a button. Only press the button ONCE! It will give you a named piece of paper, unique to you.
Do not give it to other players, or you will both forfeit your entries. This giveaway is easy enough for everyone to do solo!
Send a /mail to JohnsanGeezo with the unique word on the paper, plus the three keywords. That’s it!
To bring in the Christmas Holidays, we’ve brought a Fair to LibraryCraft! The Medieval Fair is home to a selection of vanilla minigames and it’s open right now!
The minigames on offer are:
an Elytra course
a Boat race track
Archery challenge
Hide and Seek in the massive castle, and
Medieval Parkour!
Parkour is the only one that is controlled by a plugin – the rest are vanilla only, with everything being BYO – bring your own boat, elytra, bows and arrows. It’s inventory linked to 121Survival.
If you can think of any other vanilla games you’d like to see on this world, let us know! The gate to it is at the south end of 121Spawn.
We’re a little under two weeks away from the July school holidays, which means OldSurvival is almost back! If you aren’t sure what we’re talking about, about a month ago we announced we’d be bringing back OldSurvival – the 1.15.2 map we first started LibraryCraft on, back in April 2020. It’s our 5th birthday this year, so we thought – after a brilliant suggestion from a couple of players – to bring back an old map.
Well, it’s back on the server and almost open to players!
Like we said in the first article, there’s no existing player claims on the map at all, rather all builds have been claimed by the mods. If you had a claim in that world years ago, it’s gone now. If you did have a base in that map, we’ll give it back to you. Just let the mods know which one it was and we’ll transfer the claim over.
For those areas that have a player we’ve not seen for a long time, we’re going to be opening these up auction style! If you’ve got a plan for a build that you want to take over, either send JohnsanGeezo a mail in game with the coordinates and your idea, or open a ticket in Discord and let us know there. If we don’t get any other applications in a couple of days, then the build is all yours. If we do, we’ll choose the best option. If you take over a build, we just ask that you take a before and after photo, and place a sign down so we know who the new owner is.
There’s also loads of unexplored areas to settle down as we’ve widened the old 5k x 5k worldborder to get some new items generating.
Remember though, this world won’t have the Nether or the End turned on, as it’s temporary, and there also won’t be /rtp either – 120Survival will remain the primary Survival world, until 121Survival comes in a few months! When that happens, OldSurvival will be closed for good.
In the last few weeks, one of the most game changing mods for Minecraft – Distant Horizons – got a major update and it’s incredible. Distant Horizons uses levels of detail for terrain distance. You can have your render distance set at a very small amount, and then use Distant Horizons to pre-render the rest. It just renders them in a progressively lower amount of detail the further away it gets.
I’ve used this mod before and it was great, but didn’t have shader compatibility. It’s not perfect, but now it’s able to be used with some limited shaders, as long as you use a bunch of other mods with it. I’ve spent a few nights tweaking and changing settings (it’s not perfect and you need a pretty beefy PC to do it well), but I’ve finally got it sorted and it is nothing short of amazing. Check out a few screenshots below! If players want their base and surrounds captured like this, send me a mail in game, or a ticket in Discord.
A couple of weeks ago we opened the LC Hermitcraft Scavenger Hunt and it’s been a lot of fun! We’ve already had nine players complete it with more to come. We thought we’d also up the stakes a bit.
If you complete the Scavenger Hunt, not only will you get the golden shulker box full of goodies (check out the post linked above), but you’ll also get access to the newest Survival world to LibraryCraft, Skyland. Thanks to an incredible map by Flamedek_, Skyland is a 2k x 2k floating island world containing 13 different custom islands to explore and build on. There’s also a few other fun builds to find.
To get there, head through the large portal at the end of the Scavenger Hunt! You’ll know it when you see it. Note: Access isn’t an automatic thing. Johnsan will need to allow you access only after you have completed the Hunt.
There’s a few things to be aware of with Skyland:
Skyland is inventory linked with 120Survival, so you’ll have the same inventory – it will carry over between worlds, just like the Nether.
Skyland is an opt in world. If you don’t want to play on it, that’s fine! This is important for the next point.
The void is real, and you can die in it. If you die in the void, you can collect your grave yourself, but we won’t get involved. If you lose your gear, you lose your gear, so be careful.
There are no ores in Skyland. You’re more than welcome to dig and build etc, but ores have been removed. You’ll need to get your ores from 120Survival and bring them over if you need any.
You can claim your builds (and we would love to see some awesome builds in this stunning custom world), but don’t decimate a whole island just for resources. Grab your bulk resources from 120Survival instead.
There’s no bridges between worlds, so if you want to travel you’ll need an elytra until bridges are built. Make them nice though! We know you lot can build awesome things – you’re better than a simple dirt bridge or wooden plank bridge! Show us what you can do.
We’re really excited by this world and we’re looking forward to seeing what you can do with it! If you’re stuck with the Scavenger Hunt and really want to get it done, feel free to ask the team for some help. We’ll not give you the answers, but we’ll get you in the right direction!
School Holidays are almost over, but we’ve still got plenty of fun planned in LibraryCraft! Many of us are big Hermitcraft fans, so we thought we’d do something fun to get people exploring and possibly score some good loot in the process.
For those of you that don’t know what Hermitcraft is, it’s a private server created for and by YouTube content creators and Twitch streamers. The hermits create massive and intricate builds and have a heap of fun together, all while creating content for their channels. Season 9 has just wrapped up in the last month, and the builds were incredible.
We’ve decided to place a few of the builds around the 120Survival Map for you to find and explore (seen in the partial images above), but there’s a twist, and it all starts in the new Map Room, seen below, located at 120Spawn. The ruins themselves are a combined creation of two of the current hermits, Bdoubleo100 and Grian!
Not long after this article is published, the stairs to the room below the globe will be opened. The big map in the centre of the room shows the rough locations of the eight locations to find.
Each of these locations will have a sign with an alphabet cipher. You’re going to need a pen and paper with you for this, and it will take a while, so take your time! There’s no end time to this challenge.
Write down the symbols and letters that you find. The eight signs will have a selection of letters you need.
On three of those eight locations will also be some extra coded signs that make up some X, Y and Z coordinates. With these coordinate signs will also be another word. When you get to the coordinate location, think about those words – the final location’s information will be waiting for you to decode.
At your final location (you’ll know it when you see it) there will be a button to press. ONLY PRESS IT ONCE! You’ll be given a piece of paper with a code word. That code word will need to be mailed to JohnsanGeezo in order to collect your prize. What’s the prize? A shulker box full of goodies, including the heads of six of the builders of the locations to find – Bdubs, Grian, Scar, Ren, Gem & Pearl. Your name will also go up in the Map Room to show you’ve completed it.
Edit: You’ll also now get access to 120Skyland, a custom floating island Survival world!
We’re really excited for you all to check out the scavenger hunt. We had a heap of fun putting it together. A massive thank you to the Hermits for building incredible things to explore! It’s always awesome checking out what the pros can do.
That’s right, it’s been over two years, but the Head Games is coming back for the Christmas holidays and Term 1, 2024!
Nearly every mob has a chance to drop it’s head on death. Each head (for the most part – there are some that won’t count), is worth points! Some are better than others – the points list will be made available when the competition begins on Saturday December 16th.
Whoever has the most points at the end of the competition (Friday April 7th, 2024), will win – 1st, 2nd and 3rd! In the past there have been a HUGE amount of goodies to win and you can donate prizes as well! Treasure blocks like diamond, netherite, gold, iron, coal and more, plus other goodies too. Drop them into the prize pool hopper at the new Head Games HQ (the HGHQ) by 120 Survival Spawn.
Update: There’s also now three LEGO sets for the top three points scorers!
1st: 31132 Viking Ship & the Midgard Serpent
2nd: 76394 Fawkes, Dumbledore’s Phoenix
3rd: 76181 DC Batman Batmobile: The Penguin Chase
Each registered player will get a chest at the HGHQ with a hopper – the pig’s head statue holds the entrance, which will open on December 16th. Drop VALID heads into your hopper to submit them.
Some things to note:
Don’t submit heads that do not score points
Don’t submit non head items
Don’t name the heads – leave them as they are
Heads from the /heads plugin are different and do not count
Extra point heads will be offered from time to time
Farms to collect heads are allowed, but ONLY if the mobs die by a player’s hand – handheld weapons only
Points will be calculated each Monday, with a hologram leaderboard available at the HGHQ.
To register, simply drop 1 DIAMOND BLOCK with your name on it into the central hopper at the HeadGames HQ by 9pm December 15th.
That’s right, the dynmap is back for 1.20 Survival! Now you can have a live overhead map of the Survival maps – that includes 1.20 and 1.19 Survival, Biblos’ Temple, and the Survival Lobby.
It’s also had a bit of a facelift, so it looks much cleaner. One feature we’ve not used as much but can make use of in this version are map markers. Easily findable, these will allow us to pinpoint bases and other key locations on the map as they appear.
If you’d like a marker set at your base, mail JohnsanGeezo in game, or open a ticket in Discord and he’ll set one up. You’ll need to provide your base coordinates and what you want it to be called.
Lastly, the dynmap can be found in your browser of choice at:
We got some great feedback from some players over the course of the two weeks of PVP Survival 3, and like always, we wanted to know what you think, because you lot are important, and you’ve got some great ideas. We’re doing a restart of PVPSurvival.
Play has dropped, which we feel (and we’ve been told) is normal for a PVP Survival map. It’s not a bad thing! Some of you were so stacked it was hard for newer players (or players with less gear, like me) to get a decent foothold in the map.
After some great feedback, here’s what we’re going to do. A rotation of different maps, around for a shorter amount of time. In no particular order:
No enchants
Nether Only
No diamonds
No meats
Super small 500×500 world
Map that gets smaller every day
There’s also a few ideas that will need a bit more thought and possibly another plugin:
Limited biomes, or a single biome
A kill counter on screen
Battle Royale – last man standing. This one would also be a registerable event.
The next map will be (funnily enough) PVP Survival 4:
1000×1000 map
same rules as last time, but we’re also adding:
No enchants at all (items created or found, plus potions). Just bare armour and tools.
It’ll be around for 2 weeks (may be extended slightly if play is still popular). We’ll play it by ear but if this one is anything to go by, 2 weeks will be fine.
If you die, you surrender your gear to that player that caused your untimely (or timely) demise.
No more than 3 members in your team.
We’ve also completely removed the /tp commands in the world. No more tping to people! It’s a very small map, so you can walk it. Or use a boat. Or a horse.
In terms of when the first map will roll out, we’re hoping to have it out and ready for after school tomorrow! Stay tuned!
