That’s right! The 1.19.2 Update is all done. The world has been preloaded and we’re good to go.
There are still a couple of things we’re waiting on, and there’s bound to be a few little issues here and there, so please be patient with us as we sort out the teething problems. If you see something is not quite right, please tell us!
You can report issues either in Discord with a ticket, or sending JohnsanGeezo an in game mail.
A couple of things to note:
The Survival Lobby now has it’s own isolated inventory.
1.18Survival and 1.19Survival have separate inventories. No items will be carried over.
We’re still waiting on a couple of plugins to be updated, so for now you won’t get access to custom heads or be able to see the NPCs at Spawn or in the Emerald Hall.
You’ll be able to use /tpr on the new world to teleport to a random location on the map. It’s a different plugin so should be more reliable.
The End is inaccessible for now, to allow people to take their time and get settled. We’re trying not to encourage speedruns this time around, after some feedback we received!
Lastly, a huge thanks to our amazing build team for the stunning Ancient Roman Spawn Island! Massive shout outs to CountDoDo for the design and layout, and Kisney, crazycollie and JohnsanGeezo for getting it built with Count!
That’s right – it’s time! Thank you all for waiting so patiently. We know it’s been tough! The plugins are pretty much good to go – fingers crossed we don’t have any hiccups, but we’ve waited long enough. One plugin still isn’t ready yet, and that’s CustomHeads, but it’s a cosmetic one, so we can do without it for now. All things going well, 1.19.2 is coming to LibraryCraft next week, just in time for the school holidays! Things will change, new things will come, but it will be amazing. Here’s what you need to know. Make sure you read this whole post!
What will change?
A few things…
Survival Worlds:
1.17Survival will be removed and (hopefully) available for download some time in the near future. While 1.17Survival was a popular map, since 1.18Survival it’s hardly been used, and it needs to go to make room for…
1.19Survival! A brand new world (and new inventory) with the new Ancient Cities, with a fresh and incredible looking spawn area. Check out the image above for a sneak peek! We’re going with a Ancient Rome style Spawn Island, thanks to the hard work of CountDoDo and a few of the Builder & Mod team.
The current 1.18Survival will still be accessible, with it’s inventory, but the 1.19Survival world will have a separate inventory. There’s no link to them at all. No transferring items.
The 1.17Survival gate on the Warp Ship will become the gate for 1.18Survival, and 1.19Survival will be opposite it. We’ll give it a bit of a facelift, so you’ll know which one is which when you walk through the gate…
Plugin tweaks:
1.19Survival won’t appear in Dynmap for a few weeks, to encourage natural exploration.
Server/Gameplay changes
The map will most likely be a 5000×5000map.
Public Nether and End gates will not appear in the spawn area until after someone has made it there with regular gameplay. The End will be larger – most likely 10k X 10k.
The /gwarp 118Spawnwill be removed and replaced with 119Spawn. If you want to get to 1.18Survival, you’ll need to use the Warp Ship Gate.
The Trade Island will be coming back in 1.19Survival! We found it harder to find shops, so there’ll be a main island somewhere that they can all be located together. This may not be set up from the start, depending on how much time John has!
Any claims in 1.17Survival will be deleted and claims blocks returned to the player that owned it, so you should have some spare for the new world. If you run out again, you’ll need to remove some old claims from 1.18Survival.
As was the rule before, you are NOT allowed to claim areas of land simply to reserve resources. Claims should be forbuilds only. If claims are found with no building on them, they will be removed by moderators.
Players are also not allowed to claim villages. Villages are for everyone to enjoy. If you want the villagers, take them, but do not claim the whole village, or even a part of it. There are only so many of them! This is also the case for Ancient Cities.
So when will it happen?
All things going well, John will begin the update process on Monday 19th September. That’s this coming Monday! During this time the whitelist will be reset so only John and select staff can access it. This is so the servers can be updated, the new world installed and the world (plus Nether and End) preloaded to stop lag. We’ll run some tests, make a few final tweaks to the new spawn area and then open it up. If you find yourself unwhitelisted, don’t panic! Just be patient. The process could take a couple of days – we’re just not sure. The server’s MOTD (the little message that appears on your server list screen) will be updated to reflect what’s going on.
That’s it! If you have questions, get in touch with us on the LibraryCraft Discord or with an email. Bring on 1.19 and the Warden!
That’s right! The 1.18 Update is done (a lot faster than I thought!). The world has been preloaded and we’re good to go.
This is a pretty big update, so please be patient with us as we sort out the teething problems. If you see something is not quite right, please tell us! A couple of things to note:
The Survival Lobby now shares it’s inventory with 1.18Survival, as newbies need the kit they get when they first join.
The Head Games is open!
The Daily Crates are disabled for now – there are some issues with the plugin and the update.
There’ll still be a few changes and tweaks in the 1.18 Spawn Cave, but for now feel free to explore, then find yourself a home! You’ll be able to use /rtp on the new world too.
The Nether is inaccessible at the moment – we’re working on it!
Lastly, a huge thanks to our amazing build team for the stunning spawn cave! Massive shout outs to Kisney, crazycollie, JtripleM and _pluto_9!
Yep, you’ve all waited so patiently, but it’s time! The plugins are pretty much good to go – fingers crossed we don’t have any hiccups, but we’ve waited long enough. All things going well, 1.18.1 is coming to LibraryCraft next week! Things will change, new things will come, but it will be amazing. Here’s what you need to know. Make sure you read this whole post!
What will change?
A few things…
Survival Worlds:
OldSurvival will be removed and (hopefully) available for download somewhere on this site. OldSurvival was our 1.15.2 world. It’s hardly used, but it needs to go to make room for…
1.18Survival! A brand new world (and new inventory) with the new height and depth, with a fresh and incredible looking spawn area (check out the images for a sneak peek). The current NewSurvival will be renamed to 1.17Survival. You can still access that world, and it’s inventory, but the 1.18Survival world will have a separate inventory.
The OldSurvival gate on the Warp Ship will become the gate for 1.17Survival, and 1.18Survival will be opposite it. Trust us, you’ll know which one is which when you walk through the gate…
Plugin tweaks:
The Diamond Bank will stay installed (as we need it to be), but we won’t be using it to store diamonds. All diamonds should be withdrawn from player banks on NewSurvival this week – before we update! You will not be able to /withdraw or /deposit on NewSurvival once we have updated. You will also not be able to pay people, or deposit in 1.18Survival. You’ll need to make a nice vault to keep your shinies in! Why? Because currently we can’t set up a new Bank per world – they’d be linked, and we need it!
1.18Survival won’t appear in Dynmap for a few weeks, to encourage natural exploration.
Server/Gameplay changes
The map will be a 5000×5000map (most likely).
Public Nether and End gates will not appear in the spawn area until after someone has made it there with regular gameplay.
The /gwarp 117Spawnwill be removed and replaced with 118Spawn. If you want to get to 1.17Survival, you’ll need to use the Warp Ship Gate.
The Survival Lobby will have a separate inventory to both 1.18Survival & 1.17 Survival. This also means that…
The Post Office is going to close! While we were small it was good, but we’re too big now to let everyone have a post office box – we don’t have the space. If you want to deliver something to a player, head to their base.
How? Make use of public pwarps and pwarp classes! You can check out how to do it in the Player’s Guide. Don’t want people to be able to teleport into your base? Set the public warp point somewhere outside. This also relates to the next one…
The Trade Hall will not be coming back in 1.18Survival! Once again, there’s not enough room, and it means that players can make their shops bigger and better (or smaller and simpler) than ever. Have a shop that you want people to visit? Set it as a Public Shop pwarp and it will appear in the /pwarps list.
Players will get extra claims blocks to use in 1.18Survival. We’re still figuring out how many exactly, as you should get some back when we remove claims from OldSurvival. We want to make it fair for everyone, but don’t want to give away too many! If you run out again, you’ll need to remove some old claims from 1.17Survival.
As was the rule before, you are NOT allowed to claim areas of land simply to reserve resources. Claims should be forbuilds only. If claims are found with no building on them, they will be removed by moderators.
We will also be asking players not to claim villages. Villages are for everyone to enjoy. If you want the villagers, take them, but do not claim the whole village, or even a part of it, unless you have a build there. There are only so many of them!
Lastly, the Head Games will be returning for Season 3! You’ll find the Head Games HQ in the new spawn area on 1.18Survival. Each mob has a chance of dropping it’s head on death. Each head is worth points. Collect heads, submit them each week and the top three points scorers will get some massive prizes! You can even donate to the prize pool to increase the loot. The Head Games will be open from when 1.18Survival is available to players, and will go for 2 months. Plenty of time to collect those heads! All the information you need will be in the HG HQ.
So when will it happen?
All things going well, LibraryCraft will update on Monday 14th February. That’s this Monday!
That’s it! If you have questions, get in touch with us on the LibraryCraft Discord. Bring on 1.18!
Due to the amount of changes in LibraryCraft, we’ve created the LibraryCraft Player’s Guide! It’s available from a link at the top of the site, and contains plenty of information about the different aspects of the server.
If you think of something that should be included, get in touch with the team!
Ok, the plugins are pretty much ready to go, it’s time to schedule this update to 1.17.1! There’s a few things to do, so it will happen in stages over the next week or so. Here’s what has already happened!
The new Trade Hall on NewSurvival Trade Island has been built and set up! At the moment this is still empty. Once the shop systems have been swapped over, the Trade Hall will be open for business. Thanks to the awesome crew of players for building this. It looks incredible!
The Richest Players list has been removed
Referral Bonuses, more /sethomes and player heads have been changed from in game currency to diamonds.
Here’s what still needs to happen:
The current ChestShop and /shop plugins will be removed.
The Diamond Bank and Shopkeepers will be installed and set up for use.
Posters will be created to help players with the new systems.
All existing balances will be wiped.
Plugins and datapacks will be updated and tested.
The NewSurvival worldborder will be expanded from 5000 sq blocks to 7500 sq blocks.
The new area will be preloaded to reduce lag.
The easy stuff like posters will happen Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th August, and I’ll be slowly updating the plugins as well. Without the main 1.17.1 update though, players shouldn’t notice a difference. It’s when I start swapping the economy systems over – then you should notice a bit of a difference.
Changing the economy systems over means that other things will be impacted too – mainly buying plots in competitions, and post office plots too. This needs to change from the currency costs to diamonds. I’ll be doing a bit of testing first (probably Thursday 12th and Friday 13th), now that the plugin is ready. Once I’m happy with it, I’ll wipe the balances, swap out the economy systems and I’ll send a message to everyone with what needs to happen. This will probably happen on Monday 16th.
After that’s bedded in, the big stuff will happen – firstly, the whitelist will be temporarily cleared, so only I can access it. This will all happen during school hours, so it shouldn’t impact many. The server will be updated to 1.17.1, I’ll test the plugins again, then I’ll expand NewSurvival, preload it, then re-add the whitelist and away we go! The new adminshops with the 1.17.1 gear that can’t be obtained naturally will also be added. I’m guessing this will happen on Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th.
If you’re wondering why remove the whitelist, it’s so I can control the test environment. It’s also mainly for the preload – when this is happening, it takes the sole focus of the server, so players will feel some lag. It’s usually done after a few hours.
As you can tell, there’s a fair bit to do, and I want to thank you all for being so patient while we wait just a little bit longer. To sum up those dates:
As some of you may know, on Thursday Mojang released the latest snapshot for 1.17 development. Given the size of 1.17, they’ve decided to change a few things up and split 1.17 into two releases.
The Summer Update focuses on blocks and mobs, and then the Holiday release for World Generation. Summer in the Northern Hemisphere is around September. There will be updates to our plugins during that time so we will get the blocks, but they won’t automatically generate in the game. Some will – like amethysts and copper, but the rest will only be available in Creative Mode. Mobs that we’ve seen in snapshots already will appear though.
Because the world generation won’t happen until at least the start of 2022 for us (we need to wait for plugin updates to happen first, which take some time), we won’t add a new world just yet. OldSurvival and NewSurvival will stay for the time being.
As the Survival worlds are preloaded with a worldborder, all of the explorable land has been explored, so nothing new will spawn in the current worldborder of 5k x 5k, so we’ll be expanding the NewSurvival worldborder to 7.5k x 7.5k. If you want those new items, you’re going to need to go exploring in the new areas!
For the other items that won’t naturally spawn, they’ll be available in an AdminShop, for a price of diamonds. When Update 2 comes out and is available for us in 2022, OldSurvival will go, NewSurvival will become 116Survival, and 117Survival will appear, in all it’s worldgen glory! Speaking of those AdminShops…
LC Economy 2.0
We’ve noticed over the last year that our economy has stagnated. Balances are being collected in order to be the richest, some shops are asking for payment in diamonds or emeralds, shops are mostly empty (save 2 or 3), or prices are exorbitant. There’s a solution that the Mods and I have come up with.
We’re planning on using two new plugins: The Diamond Bank and Shopkeepers. The Diamond Bank allows for storage of diamonds in a digital vault. Holding diamonds in your hand, enter /deposit and they’ll be safely stored away. Entering /withdraw will get them out. Shopkeepers uses villagers with custom selling interfaces – much like what you see already, but players can add the items they want to sell, for either an amount of diamonds, or to trade. They work really well, and shopkeepers are also able to be changed to different mobs. Check the Shopkeepers link above to see it in action.
Anyway, here’s what we’re proposing. There’s two choices. To vote, log in to the server and cast your vote by selecting Option 1 or 2.
Option 1
When we get 1.17 Update 1 in September, we:
remove the current /shop system (we’re not really using it anyway, except to get more money)
remove ChestShops.
Current /balances will be wiped and removed.
Add The Diamond Bank and Shopkeepers as the primary shop systems. These would be used on both OldSurvival and NewSurvival.
Competition plots would become free
Competition prizes would become diamonds, not money
Heads would be free to purchase, except player heads, that will cost diamonds.
Players would buy a special villager egg worth a diamond block for use in their shops.
AdminShop Villagers would be available to purchase the 1.17 items that do not naturally spawn, for diamonds.
Option 2
We do the same thing (without the AdminShop Villagers) when 1.17 Update 2 comes out in 2022.
So – the choices are we change to the new system in September (Option 1), or January 2022 (Option 2).
We think this will revitalise the economy system and make mining for diamonds all the more crucial! Diamond trading works extremely well on other servers, without the need for complicated economy systems. Diamonds are also much more versatile in the game! We think this’ll be an awesome change. It might take some getting used to, but we can do it!
During the week Minecraft was updated to 1.16.2, which unfortunately means waiting for our server to update again, before Bedrock users can connect. Java players are all good, but Bedrock users will need to wait a little longer! We’re anticipating it will be done in the next few days – as soon as it’s ready, we’ll get it sorted and put a new message up here!
Sorry for the inconvenience! If you want to connect straight away, get yourself sorted with a Java account and get in contact with the team. Also, stay in touch with up to date information on the LibraryCraft Discord.
That’s right! The update process is complete and the server is once again open for business!
The Nether Gate has had a bit of an upgrade and now connects to the new 1.16 Nether. It’s spooky but colourful at the same time.
Being a new update, and a large one, there are bound to be a few things here and there that may cause issues, be buggy or just not right. Please report them to a moderator and they can hopefully be sorted out. This is still a work in progress so there may be a bit more downtime needed to sort out the issues that arise from lots of players logging in, but we’ll see how we go!
Bedrock players are also able to connect again, which is great! We’ve got a lot of new players that haven’t logged in before, so we’re looking forward to seeing them in game soon.
If there are any issues with connecting, especially for Bedrock users, please reach out at librarycraft@fremantle.wa.gov.au and we’ll see what we can do!
You’ll probably notice over the next few days that the server is unavailable – you may see it offline, or you may appear to be unwhitelisted.
Fear not! This is just all part of the process of getting LibraryCraft updated and ready for 1.16.1. There’s a bit to do, so please be patient with us! We’re going as fast as we can. If you want speedy updates, head to our Discord server for all the latest information!
