November is International Games Month, and what better way to celebrate it than with a LibraryCraft Social Session! We’re planning an afternoon of hanging out and some group activities at Fremantle Library in the coming two weeks. Here’s the information you need to know:
Where: Fremantle Library When: Saturday 26th November, 1 – 4:30pm Bring: Your laptop and Minecraft login, and some snacks for yourself!
We’ve got a few laptops that we can loan you for the session, but there’s not a lot of them, and spaces are limited, so you have to register – get in quick. We’ve got a capacity limit in the room, so we have to stick to registered attendees.
We’ll have a tournament, a competition or two, and a bunch of fun activities to get stuck into.
Please note: You must be whitelisted on the server prior to attending the Social Session.
Here are the winners for October’s spooky Halloween competition! We also forgot to award the mid season prizes last month, so they’re below as well.
1st Place: SpringFolk
SpringFolk has come in with a brilliant build to take out his first win! I love the halloween style village with a farm at the top of the hill. The hovering Herobrine was a nice touch!
2nd Place: GalaxyOcean
Galaxy has created this beautiful and immersive swamp build. I love the roof of the build.
3rd Place: toothless_spy
Toothless has decided to go for a Stranger Things Upside Down vibe on this one, and it’s excellent. This was fun to explore.

TYP3D decided to take inspiration from a famous Japanese print – The Great Wave off Kanagawa, using some really clever texturing in blue. This one was great to watch rise from the surface. Well done Typed!

How long have you been playing Minecraft?
I am a returning player to Minecraft. I first played in 2012 and remember horses being added to the game as this was a huge deal at the time. I eventually stopped regularly playing a few years later in 2015 to other games but I have now returned!
What made you start playing Minecraft?
I started playing after watching Achievement Hunter Let’s Play videos. I would watch these all the time. I’d build some worlds with friends for a couple of days before we would restart and do it all again. Soon after, I moved on to watching other YouTubers playing minigames I was obsessed with these videos and would play the minigames with my friends too.
Once I found servers it was a whole other ball game. I played survival games for the rest of my time on Minecraft as my friend and I loved the PvP gameplay. I became a member of the community and a moderator/ I also played a prison server when I wasn’t on survival games. Great times and made so many friends doing it.
The Gadget Guy (loves making little redstone contraptions around their base to make life easier)
The Resource Hoarder(everything gets stored in piles and piles of chests, even if they don’t need them)
The Monument Builder (they always have to have the biggest build on the server)
The Autofarmer (farms have to have pistons, daylight detectors, the works)
The Explorer (no set base, everything they have is in their inventory. They just walk)
The Subterranean Hermits (their entire base must be underground)
The Artist (all the pixel art!)
The Competitors (minigames is their jam – PvP, Spleef, Parkour, all that)
The Code Wizards (whether it’s command blocks or crazy complex redstone)
The Mod Fans (Vanilla Minecraft? Nah – bring on the mods and plugins)
The Medieval Builders (villages, ships, the lot)
The Modern Architect (modern houses, modern resource packs, lots of concrete)
The Challenge Fan (Skyblock, Survival SuperFlat, Hardcore Mode – bring on the challenges)
The Long Gamers (using the same world since 1.8 or before – such dedication)

The Competitor would be where I land. Minigames are my thing. They maximize the fun!
Do you start a world the same way every time, or mix it up?
I usually stick to what I know so probably the same every time. I keep things very simple and hoard resources.
What’s your favourite ever build you’ve created?
Wooden shack. I am not much of a builder so this is where I am going to need the LibraryCraft community to help to make me better.
How many times have you beaten the EnderDragon?
I don’t think I have beaten the EnderDragon before ☹

What’s your favourite block?
My favourite block(s) are copper. I like the colour contrast on them.
How about your favourite mob?
My favourite mob is the Panda. Also, my favourite animal. My Minecraft username used to be named after a Panda and you will see me rocking the skin that I have had since 2013 on LC.
What’s your favourite thing to do in LibraryCraft?
It’s only been a few weeks and I already have a few things I like to do on LC and I can’t decide. First, is talking to the awesome people that play on the server. Whenever I get on there is someone to say hello and play some Minecraft with. Second, is seeing everyone’s builds especially for the competitions. So much creativity and talent! Last, is the minigames. I’ve had a great time with some people on the server already with these.

This school holidays we’ve added a twist to the LC Treasure Hunt.

We thought what better opportunity to get everyone involved and have a server-wide competition that everyone can get involved in. It’s also a brand new hunt created by Kisney! All you seasoned players (you know who you are) – introduce yourself to a newbie and make a team. Want to name your team? Sure, go for it! You know we love to see you get creative…

On completion, each team member will receive:
A custom pirate hat
2 Diamond Blocks, and
2 Mega Crate Keys
Rules of Entry:
Team Registration must be sent in advance to JohnsanGeezo via in game mail.
Teams must consist of 1 seasoned player and 1 newbie. No exceptions.
Starting point is at Treasure Island on the Survival Spawn World where you’ll find all the extra info.
The Hunt will be available for the entirety of Term 4 and the Christmas School Holidays, so registrations can happen any time during this time.
Terms & Conditions:
Registrations for the Treasure Hunt commence Monday 3 October, with the competition kicking off during Term 4.
Players will need to submit a written book with all clue locations and code words for each clue to JohnsanGeezo’s mailbox at his 119 Base (public pwarp available).
All clues must be done by BOTH members of the team.
Some clues may require you to use the internet.
‘Seasoned Players‘ are defined as ‘players that joined LibraryCraft BEFORE the 1.18 server upgrade.
‘Newbie Players‘ are defined as ‘players that have joined LibraryCraft AFTER the 1.18 server upgrade.
If you are having trouble creating a team, submit a ticket in Discord and the Mods will help.
As the competition relies on a team effort, screenshots may be requested by the Mods to ensure a fair distribution of team work, so make sure you take them!
Teams can ask for a Discord channel to discuss all aspects of their competition with each other. If you do not have Discord we recommend downloading it prior to the commencement of the competition. The invite link is available in the server using /discord.
All information about the competition will be available via the website, the sign at Treasure Hunt gate, in Discord and across the server.

We’ve just announced the October Halloween competition, but we want to get everyone excited for what is coming next.
In November we’re teaming up with the WA Maritime Museum again! They’ve given us a specific challenge – build an entry statement to the Fremantle Harbour. Just like the Statue of Liberty is the entry statement to New York, we want to see what you can come up with for Freo! What should be there to welcome people to Fremantle?
We’ve got some 50×50 water plots ready to go! Also, the winning builds will be put on show on a big screen in the WA Maritime Museum during the January Holidays.
All building must be done on the November Comp Map

Single player entries only – no team builds
Judging will happen during the first week of December. The WA Maritime Museum staff will be judging the entries as well, with each WAMM vote counting for two moderator votes.
As per normal, the November Comp world gate will replace the October gate which will close to building at 9pm on Monday October 31st.
The gate will open on the morning of November 1st!

The top three designs will win an extra special prize, just for November, thanks to the WA Maritime Museum. Regular Emerald Points prizes will be given out as usual.

The October Comp world gate – located in the Creative Lobby – will replace the September gate which will close to building at 9pm on Friday September 30th.

Each month the Emerald Points are tallied up and can be seen in the Emerald Hall on the Survival Lobby world. At the halfway point of the season (September for Season 2 and March for Season 1) we give away prizes to the current top three Emerald Points winners:

3rd Place: 1x $10 JB HiFi Voucher
At the end of the season (June and December), the grand prizes are awarded to the final top three Emerald Points winners from across the 6 months of competition. These are the big ones! This season we’re giving away:
