Everything you need to know about LC Create!

It’s been great to see a heap of buzz around the LC Create server, since we announced it in early January! We’ve done a lot of testing and have come up with a really solid mod pack experience. We’re actually now in the process of building the spawn area, and it’s looking great! You can see a few work in progress images below.

So what do you need to know? Read on! We’ve got some entry requirements, a modified sanction system and specific rules that will need to be followed, plus some changes to the modpack. We’ve also got a launch date!

Entry Requirements

This server is strictly 13 – 17 year olds in Western Australia only. We won’t be letting players on before they are 13, or because of experience with the installed mods. You need to be a minimum of 13 years old.

You will also need to have logged a minimum of 12 hours of play in the main LibraryCraft server network first. That doesn’t include AFK time. This is so everyone who is in LC Create understands the rules and how the main server runs.

As there’s a few more freedoms in this server, we’re still ensuring that the environment is as ChildSafe as we can possibly make it. In order to do this, we’ve decided to add another step to the process, in the form of a Server Terms of Use form that both the player and their parent has to sign. This form is still being developed, but will be made available to players once we’re ready to go. As this is a different server than what you and your parents originally agreed to participate in, we’re making extra sure that everyone knows the rules.

So, if you can see the extra LC Create channels on Discord, and you have completed the Terms of Use form, you will have access when the server launches. Note that the Discord channel access list has changed! If you had access before, you may not necessarily have access now, depending on the amount of hours you’ve played in the main server network. Once you have logged the hours, get in contact with us with either a ticket in Discord, or via the whitelist email.

Additional Rules

In addition to the main rules, which will also be in effect for LC Create, we have added the following:

  • Tunnel bores (mechanical drill rigs) to be no bigger than 5×5 drills.
  • You cannot start your tunnel bore and then log off. If your tunnel bore is in operation, you should be with it. A good practice is to follow the bore with torches to light up the tunnels. You can then collect the ores it misses.
  • Tunnel bores should not be used within 1000 blocks of spawn.
  • Tunnel bores not to be used near populated or built up areas. Unwanted tunnels probably won’t be the aesthetic people are after!
  • Password protected voice chat groups will not be permitted.
  • As a courtesy to others, please ask in chat before joining voice chat groups. The only exception to this rule is for mods and staff.
  • TNT columns or blocks not to be used. Use TNT sparingly.

Modified Sanction System

What is a sanction system? It’s the consequences for breaking the rules. In the main server network it’s a warning, jail time and then a ban if it escalates. For LC Create, it is different.

Failure to follow the server rules (including the additional rules) will result in:

  • 1st offense: Written warning (in game/Discord)
  • 2nd offense: Permanent ban on LC Create

If the issue is deemed serious enough, it will also result in jail time or a ban in the main LibraryCraft server network as well. A first offense may receive a greater loss of privileges in some cases.

Note: players that have received bans in LibraryCraft will not be permitted to play on LC Create.

Important differences between LibraryCraft & LC Create

There are some important differences between LibraryCraft and LC Create.

  • There is no option to roll back inventories. If you lose something, we won’t be able to get it back! Be careful.
  • Graves will spawn on death but will not keep experience orbs, and backpacks will be placed next to the graves. If you die in the void, you will lose your backpack.
  • TNT will be on, but use it sparingly.
  • Claims should be used as they will protect your items and builds!
  • A separate Player’s Guide will be made available closer to the release date. Make sure you familiarise yourself with it!
  • The worldborder has been set to 6k x 6k. Plenty of room to explore!

Changes to the Modpack

To make the modpack workable for as many different types of setups as we can manage, we’ve made some tweaks to it for balance and optimisation.

  • We’ve removed William Wythers’ Overhauled Overworld & Oh The Biomes You’ll Go and replaced them both with Terralith for overworld terrain generation.
  • It Takes a Pillage removed as the structures were far too rare.
  • The Nether is now generated with BetterNether.
  • And a few other tweaks and changes here and there!

Please note that not every PC will be able to run the modpack. We’ve optimised it as best we can, and have had some success with low end PCs already, but each setup is different, and we can only provide limited support for set up.

So when is this all happening?

Release Dates

The Terms of Use form will be available Friday March 3rd.

The LCC Player’s Guide and link to the modpack (to be found in the Player’s Guide) will be available on Thursday March 9th. This is so it can be installed and you can have a read, ready to go because…

The LC Create server will be available for play after school on Friday March 10th!

If you have logged enough hours in LC, are the right age and have completed the Terms of Use form, you will be whitelisted, ready to go on Friday. If you believe you have enough hours, please get in touch with us in Discord or via the whitelist email and we will verify.

If you have any questions about anything LC Create related, you can reach out to us in Discord, or via an email to whitelist@librarycraft.net.

I’ll leave you with the teaser trailer to get excited!

January Ocean Build Competition Results

I can’t believe we’re already a month down in 2023! Time to announce January’s winners and honourable mentions for the Ocean competition.

Note: There’s a new way to collect prizes! Read on…

1st Place: Noodles257

After a bit of a hiatus, Noodles is back and has scored his first win with this amazing and highly detailed underwater observatory! This was a lot of fun to explore.

2nd Place: LordSquid__

Squid crafted a highly detailed kraken and some massive eels, which were actually used as a part of some LC Empires lore, being displayed in that map too! Well done Squid – I love the boat!

3rd Place: Strawfolk

Straw decided to build a lonely lighthouse with some tunnels under the water. I really like the simplicity of this one. Straw also snatched third place with just five extra points!

Honourable Mentions

We have a huge six honourable mention this round, with players scoring some votes, but not enough to make the podium finish. They each get a diamond block! Another tough round to judge!

Smaug12345

Grey_Wolf_Gamer

Pixelater3000

Meowlicky

Cometcraft42

toothless_spy

Well done to all our entries!

Prize Collection

To make things a little easier on me, a Competition Prize Collection Point has been set up in 119Survival! Starting this month, instead of prizes being deposited at bases, they’ll all be left at a central prize collection point at my 119Survival Base. There’s a public pwarp – JohnsanGeezo.CompCollectionPoint – that will have protected chests for each player that won a prize – podium OR honourable mention.

Please make sure you collect your items quickly, or you will risk losing them!

February’s Player of the Month is…

We’re already a month in to 2023! Time flies. We just had the one nomination this round, so this will be a shorter one!

Congratulations to RubyBird12! Ruby will get a special rank in the server for a month, with [POTM] visible after her username and two Mega Crate keys to spend in 119Survival. Here was the nomination entry:

Ruby honestly deserved this a long time ago, she’s been super active, helpful, and generally a great member of the community. She’s also helped me out a lot in Empires, and let me use her anvil. She’s always open to playing minigames with everyone too. This sounds like I’m writing a school award, but it’s true! 😀

Nominations are now open for next month!

Presenting the LC Create Teaser Trailer!

We’re well underway with testing the setup for the LC Create server, and to get everyone excited, we’ve released a teaser trailer, showcasing what we’ve been up to in a test world!

You can check out the video below.

Included in the video is:

  • some of the amazing world generation now using Terralith (the big town in the video was all naturally generated)
  • Some of the furniture options (beds, kitchens, sofas)
  • Plenty of Create goodness (windmills, elevators, trains, contraptions and even a ship using hidden train parts)
  • Special crops and trees thanks to Farmer’s Delight and Colourful Azaleas
  • New armour types from BetterNether
  • Backpacks
  • The incredible and spooky Nether using BetterNether
  • The beautiful End using BetterEnd

There’s plenty we haven’t included, such as Graveyards, Distant Horizons, proximity chat, huge dungeons and more, but this should be enough to get you excited! We certainly are!

More information will be coming soon – we’ve got a date planned, but we’re still finalising a few things before we announce it. It’s not far off though!

February Creative Competition – Something You Love

Here’s the topic for next month. We’re celebrating Valentine’s Day in our own way with Something You Love! This one was also suggested by TYP3D.

Thanks to Godzillaaaaaaaa (CountDoDo plus all the million other names he’s used over the years) for the Gate build for the month! It’s perfect!

The February Comp world gate – located in the Creative Lobby – will replace the January gate which will close to building at 9pm on Tuesday January 31st.

The gate will open in the Creative Lobby on the morning of February 1st, so get thinking about something you love!

Season 1 Prizes

As you know, each month we give away the following prizes:

  • 1st Prize: 4x diamond blocks, 1x mega crate key & 15 Emerald Points
  • 2nd Prize: 3x diamond blocks, 1x mega crate key & 10 Emerald Points
  • 3rd Prize: 2x diamond blocks, 1x mega crate key & 5 Emerald Points

Each month the Emerald Points are tallied up and can be seen in the Emerald Hall on the Survival Lobby world. At the halfway point of the season (March for Season 1 and September for Season 2) we give away prizes to the current top three Emerald Points winners:

  • 1st Place: 1x $25 JB HiFi Voucher
  • 2nd Place: 1x $10 JB HiFi Voucher
  • 3rd Place: 1x $10 JB HiFi Voucher

At the end of the season (June and December), the grand prizes are awarded to the final top three Emerald Points winners from across the 6 months of competition. These are the big ones! This season we’re giving away:

  • 1st Prize: $350 worth of LEGO! The winner would let us know what to order (dependent on availability of course), up to $350 and we’ll get it delivered to you.
  • 2nd Prize: $100 JB HiFi Voucher
  • 3rd Prize: $50 JB HiFi Voucher

Exciting times!

December & Emerald Points Season 2 2022 Results

And just like that we’re in to 2023! It’s time to announce the winners for December and the whole Emerald Points Season 2 2022 competition.

December first though – we challenged our players with a Christmas Carol build theme.

1st Place: Strawfolk

For his second win, Straw went with O Christmas Tree, creating this beautiful, detailed street scene! Congratulations Straw!

2nd Place: toothless_spy

Toothless went with Aussie Jingle Bells, and even went with a full music set up underneath that played the tune. Nice work!

3rd Place: RubyBird12

It’s another O Christmas Tree build, this time by Ruby in a snowglobe! Lots of detail and colour in this one.

Honourable Mentions

We have three honourable mention this round, with players scoring some votes, but not enough to make the podium finish. They each get a diamond block! The feedback from the mods and judges was that this one was a really tough round to judge, so well done all!

Introducing the LC Create Server!

In order to bring in 2023 with a bang, we’ve decided to set up and trial a modded server running Fabric and our very own mod pack! Running the immensely popular Create mod among a slew of others, this server will be only for players 13 and older, given the more complex nature of play. It’ll be a 1.19.2 world, with the Nether and the End, and around a 10,000 square worldborder.

Is this replacing LibraryCraft?

No! This is simply another server we’re trialling, to see if it would work and be popular. A lot of our teenage players have been with us for a while now, so we want to make sure we’ve got something fun on offer for them, as well as all the regular stuff that’s available in the main servers.

2023 will be another big year for LibraryCraft, with a whole year of player suggested creative competition themes, a new season of the LC League coming, plus another update, of course LC Empires, and plenty more. We’re always open to suggestions!

What mods are included?

There’s some awesome ones! We’ve been doing some testing on an Aternos server, but all things going well, here’s what we’re looking at on the new server (not an Aternos one!):

  • Create – one of the most popular mods going around at the moment, this mod adds so many more amazing automated functions – windmills, drilling rigs, pipes, movement, farms and even functioning, rideable, buildable trains! The possibilities of this mod are incredible.
  • William Wythers’ Overhauled Overworld & Oh The Biomes You’ll Go – these two mods are responsible for some seriously beautiful world generation, adding in over 100 different biomes to explore.
  • Towns and Towers – for adding in different village designs and more things to explore around the world. Ruins, farms and more.
  • Macaw’s Bridges & Fences and Walls – rope bridges, fancy fences, loads of things!
  • When Dungeons Arise – one of the best dungeon generators around. Massive sprawling dungeon complexes with harder hitting mobs, massive pirate ships, floating ships, temples and plenty more for a bit of a challenge.
  • It Takes a Pillage – bigger, meaner pillager outposts, and new pillager types to battle.
  • The Graveyard – adds in spooky graveyards and underground crypts to find, plus new custom mobs like the ghoul and more.
  • Mr Crayfish’s Furniture Mod – purely for the excellent new mailbox function, plus also furniture.
  • Decorative Blocks & Supplementaries that will add a massive range of different things to build with and use.
  • Farmer’s Delight – adds new crops, cooking and farming options
  • BetterEnd – the End gets a rewrite, and a huge one! New biomes, mobs and more.
  • Roughly Enough Items – for a massive list of all items and how to craft them.
  • Diagonal Fences – because why not.
  • Elytra Slot – Now you can wear armour and an elytra at once!
  • Fabric Waystones – instead of warps, we’re using these – they’re found at villages, can be crafted, and are all public. Using them will cost you a level of XP.
  • Sound Physics Remastered – for a superb echo when you’re in caves.
  • Simple Voice Chat – yep, you’ve asked for it, here it is! Proximity chat! The good one.
  • BetterF3 – for a much nicer F3 screen
  • Gravestones – much like graves on the main server, die and your stuff gets kept in a grave.
  • Cammie’s Wearable Backpacks – carry an extra double chest worth of storage on your back!
  • JourneyMap – one of the best map mods around – a minimap, full screen map and local browser map with waypoints all in one! No dynmap for this server. The map will only show what you have explored. It will show other players, but not the terrain around them if you haven’t been there.

Plus a bunch of other dependent mods we needed to run the ones above, and to run the server better. Stuff like a discord link so we can see chat like we do with the main servers and more. Yep, that’s what that discord bot was a week or so ago! We’ve also got a mod where every chest generated when the world is created will be per-player based. No more going to an already looted dungeon to find the chests have been cleared out!

All in all, it’s an amazing bunch of mods! We’re also keeping an eye on Chipped, that offers thousands more block variants for all the vanilla blocks. It’s not updated to 1.19.2 yet, but hopefully it will be soon!

So what now?

There’s a fair bit to do to get the server set up, optimised and functional! Create the server, install the mods, prep the spawn area and get some helpful guides sorted out for everyone. Work has already begun, but we don’t know a date yet, so stay tuned! If you want to get involved with it, there’ll be some new channels set up in Discord for those that are old enough to play in the LC Create server. We’d love to know what you think! Stay tuned – more info will be coming soon.

For now, enjoy this video of John’s base on the test server to see what sort of stuff will be available to get stuck into! The Aternos server struggled with a few things as you’ll see in the video, but it was still a lot of fun.

Tweaking the LC Empires Timeline

We didn’t get a lot of interest in the Bedwars tournament for January, so we’ve decided to bring Empires forward! We’ve got a whopping 14 Empires locked in so far, but registrations have stalled so we’ll be closing registrations tonight at 9pm – that’s 9pm Sunday January 1st!

We’ll need a bit of time to get a few things prepped, but LC Empires will be going live some time this week. The majority of the work is done, but at the latest, the map will be available on Saturday morning 7th January. If we get it done earlier, it’ll be open earlier! Keep an eye out in game, on Facebook & Discord, and here on the site for all the latest info!
