January’s Player of the Month is…

Happy New Year everyone! We had four nominations this round. Like last month we’ll go through the nominations (not saying who the nominator was) and then announce the winner!

JohnsBiggestFan_ (CountDoDo)

  • Always helpful and is very nice to new players, would always play bedwars if you wanted to

Meowlicky

  • They are almost always online, fun to be around, and are always kind and helpful. They are always helping the community

Pkmnplayer09

  • They made a farm for everyone to use freely and expand it, it’s a great help for food

Kurutrancy

  • They are always so nice, kind, and if I do beat them in bedwars they never get upset. I think this player is amazing and should be POTM

And the winner is Meowlicky! Congratulations! Meow will get a special rank in the server for a month, with [POTM] visible after his username and two Mega Crate keys to spend in 119Survival!

Nominations are now open for next month!

January Creative Competition – Ocean

Merry Christmas everyone! It’s time to announce the first competition for 2023. We’re back in the water with Ocean! Fun fact – every single competition theme this year has been suggested by our players! This one was suggested by TYP3D.

Thanks to _pluto_9 for the Gate build for the month! It’s beautiful!

The January Comp world gate – located in the Creative Lobby – will replace the December gate which will close to building at 9pm on Saturday December 31st.

The gate will open in the Creative Lobby on the morning of January 1st, so get thinking! It’s also a new season, so here are the major prizes for Season 1, 2023!

Season 1 Prizes

As you know, each month we give away the following prizes:

  • 1st Prize: 4x diamond blocks, 1x mega crate key & 15 Emerald Points
  • 2nd Prize: 3x diamond blocks, 1x mega crate key & 10 Emerald Points

Exciting times!

What version is LibraryCraft on?

During the last week Java 1.19.3 was released, fixing a few bugs and making some changes to the Creative menu. While it’s a minor update, we’re not quite ready for it yet, as we have to wait for a few more of our plugins to update before we can update the server itself.

For now, you’ll need to make sure you’re running 1.19.2 in order to connect to the server. We’re hoping to be able to update in the coming weeks. More information will be out when we know it!

November Fremantle Entry Statement Competition Results

Here are the winners for November’s special competition with the WA Maritime Museum, building a Fremantle Harbour Entry Statement! Extra (and very awesome) bonus prizes in this one. In case you forgot what they were, we’ve got:

1st Place: DJI Ryze Tello Toy Drone
2nd Place: Olympus 8×21 RC II Waterproof Blue Binocular
3rd Place: 25x Brass Monocular Spyglass

1st Place: Quipp

Quipp has scored his first competition win, and what a month to do it! With some iconic Fremantle builds including shipping containers, cranes and a giant anchor, this was a great build to explore. Well done Quipp!

2nd Place: toothless_spy

An equally iconic part of Fremantle is Dingo Flour and toothless_spy has done a wonderful job creating it in 3D! I love this one.

3rd Place: Meowlicky

Meowlicky has gone with a convict statue. Organic human shapes aren’t easy, and Meow has done a really great job with this one. Well done!

Honourable Mentions

We have two honourable mention this round, with players scoring some votes, but not enough to make the podium finish. They get a diamond block each, in 119Survival.

Strawberryfolk

RubyBird12

Well done to all our entries! Prizes will be delivered in game very soon. We’ll be in touch either in game or in Discord to get your bonus prizes sorted.

On to December – the final competition of Season 2, 2022! We’ve got some amazing Christmas Carols being built, plus a veto build!

118Survival and LC Empires

Some months ago we were in the middle of a big evaluation of the server, and we got loads of amazing feedback from our brilliant players! One of these was a LibraryCraft version of Empires. It ended up being a very popular option, so we’re looking at getting it sorted for January, after the BedWars Tournament is done! Here’s all the information you need to know.

What is Empires?

Empires is a big Survival Multiplayer series on YouTube from a wide range of prominent YouTubers. According to their wiki, “it focuses on building up an empire/kingdom and over time, connecting them all together to focus on trade, alliances or total war and conquering your enemies.”

Empires is very much story and lore based, and works primarily on trade. Each empire is responsible for the creation and export of one type of thing – dyes, iron, honey, copper, wood and a lot more. In order to get that item, you don’t farm it yourself, but create a trade system with the empire that exports it.

Importantly, it’s highly encouraged to get access to the LibraryCraft Discord server if you want to participate. Communication between Empires can happen a lot easier and faster, and a lot of news and communication with the mod team will happen through Discord as well. Of course, if we have players that are unable to get access to Discord, we’ll find a way to disseminate the same information in the LC Empires world.

How will LC Empires work?

While most of that will be true for us, we’re doing a few things differently, so it suits LibraryCraft and so it will function as intended:

  1. LC Empires will be a 5k x 5k vanilla map, with the Nether enabled, but not the End.
The End will be disabled so trade routes and roads can be established. Elytra and shulkers will be sold after a while with a shopkeeper, but not straight away.
  2. Pwarps are not to be used.
Travel is to be encouraged and used at all times! Horses, boats etc as trade routes, and then Elytra after a while.
  3. There will be a strict sign up process.
This won’t be a world that is open to everyone, at any time. A sign up period will be set, to allow people to get thinking about it and put their names down. If you don’t register, you don’t get to take part, mainly because empires that start weeks later will most likely not be needed, or not thrive.
  4. Empires will be made up of two players.
It won’t just be you running your empire. The Mod team will choose partners so empires don’t go quiet. A quiet empire means no exports from that empire, which makes it hard to play! Ideally Discord players will be paired together, but there is no guarantee you will be with your friend.
  5. Empires can set a preference of what resource to be a primary trader on.
These will be listed as a part of the registration process. Each empire has a chosen export, with a huge focus on trade and alliances, and building your empire. Any resource that isn’t represented will be considered free to be gathered by all.
  6. PVP will be on, but it will strictly not be a free-for-all.
This is not PVPSurvival. Lore and storytelling is crucial, and story should be a primary focus. Story should revolve around empires, the builds and the characters in them.
  7. Declarations of war are a must.
No starting a PVP battle because you want to steal from players or just be a nuisance. A conversation should be had between the two parties to come to an agreement that a rivalry could be fun to do.  Talk about it first! Even Empires SMP is semi-scripted and planned. At all costs should PVP be avoided – come to some other arrangement if you can. Note that any declarations of war/rivalry should not be happening until well into the map/story.
  8. No claims allowed.
If a player messes up once on this world (breaks one of the LC Empires rules), they will be removed from it for good. If it breaks a server rule, jail may happen too. This means no stealing, griefing etc. Again, this is a story based map. No random PVPing, stealing or griefing for the fun of it. Talk to each other and determine whether it would work with the story.
  9. A biome map will be released for Empires players only, to plan locations.
The seed will not be released. Once teams are made up and preferences set, the biome map will be shared.
  10. Each Empire can have a Discord channel for private discussion, plus there will be a new role for registered players, plus a group channel.

To get new people involved, the duration of the map will be finite – we’ll close off Season 1 after a while, do a bit of a review, and then if there’s demand for it, run it again on a new map with new partners. How long will this be? Not sure! We’ll keep in touch with the registered players to see how it goes.

What happens now?

In order to make room on the server for another world system, something has to give. In the last month and a bit, 118Survival has been played a total of 8 hours, so we’ll be removing it as it’s just not being used enough to warrant it being kept available. Once a suitable option for hosting has been found, previous Survival maps from LibraryCraft will be made available.

The current Treasure Hunt will also be wrapped up as some locations are found in 118Survival. We’ll be sure to do another treasure hunt soon!

The Planned Timeline

  • 118Survival will be closed in the next week to make room for the Empires map.
  • Registrations are open right now!
  • Registrations for Empires to close January 8th 2023.
  • There will be one week for the mod team to get the Empires partnerships together, publish the biome map, allocate Empires their resource export (and anything that needs to happen).
  • All things going well, the LC Empires Map will open to registered players on January 16th!

How do I register?

That’s easy. Click the button below, complete the form and we’ll get in touch!

If you have any questions, ask us in Discord or send JohnsanGeezo a mail in game.

Time for a January BedWars Tournament!

That’s right, it’s time for another School Holiday BedWars Tournament! Registrations are now open for the January School Holiday Tournament. Read on for all the info!

All matches (including the Grand Finals) will be a double elimination knockout. You must lose twice in order to be out of the competition. If you lose once, you can still come back and win the whole thing. All matches will be played on the Forest map, and there will be no grace periods – the match will play as default.

This time we are running one Solo tournament over a week:

9th to 16th January

Registrations close at 9pm on Friday January 6th, and the brackets will be created and available by Sunday January 8th.

It is up to the players to schedule their matches during the week, and report back to JohnsanGeezo, preferably through Discord in #tournaments, or using in-game mail if you do not have Discord access.

Something that is crucial at this time of year – talk to your parents about your availabilities during the week. It’s the January school holidays. If you have something on, you need to find out so you are aware. You need to be available to play, or it inconveniences the rest of the players, and the organisers.

You need to mail JohnsanGeezo in game to register.

Forfeiting

If you cannot make your match during the allocated dates, you will forfeit the match. Report it as soon as you know. Don’t leave it until the last minute! It’s a lot of work to organise tournaments, and last minute forfeits can be annoying.

Once a new match has been confirmed and the players have been tagged/messaged in game/Discord, you have 24 hours to PLAY the match, or it will be deemed a forfeit. The player that is causing the delay will be the player that forfeits. If this can’t be easily determined, it will be a 50/50 decision by the Mod Team.

Prizes

There’ll also be prizes for the winner – a $50 JB HiFi Voucher, plus two diamond blocks for the runner up. The final two will also receive a bonus Mega Crate key.

FAQ

What should I report to John?
1. Report if you are unable to schedule a match during the allocated week.
2. Both players must report the results after the match, in either Discord (#tournaments) or using in-game mail.

John will then update the bracket, so the next match can be scheduled.

Are you sure we can’t delay the matches we can’t play to a different week?
Yes. You must complete your matches in the tournament week. This is so results and prizes can be finalised in a timely fashion, and stops a lot of confusion.

Can we use a different map, like Castle?
No, all matches must be played on Forest, so it’s fair for everyone.

Can we have longer grace periods before PvP starts?
No, the default game settings must be used. All matches must be played fair and according to the rules. If exploits or cheats are seen to be used, the player using them will instantly forfeit the match, and the player will be placed in jail according to server rules.

Can we add custom rules?
No, no other rules are to be set. These include extended grace periods, using golems or certain items etc.

Can another player (registered or not registered) play instead?
Yes! This time around we’re having a substitutes list. The first 16 players to register will be in the tournament proper. Any registrations before the close date over the initial 16 will go on the Substitutes list. Any late registrations (between the close date and tournament start) will also be on the Substitutes list.

You MUST be available to play during that week at short notice if you are a substitute.

Why 16?
To stop the need for byes and automatic forfeits, it’s either 16 or 32. If we get to 32 we’ll just extend the size of the tournament! It’ll just last longer.

Ok, what are the brackets?
They’re not made yet – you need to register first!

Good luck!

Christmas Hats for Sale!

Tomorrow is December, which means one thing – Christmas! To celebrate it in the server, three festive hats have been created and added for the low price of 1 diamond each!

A Santa hat, candy canes, and some reindeer antlers!

These are only available in 1.19 Survival. The shop is located at the 1.19 Trade Island, by the big Christmas Tree. Check the tent with the red and white roof.

In order to see them you’ll need to download the updated server resource pack, available at the bottom of the Player’s Guide. If you don’t use it, you’ll just see them wearing carved pumpkins instead!

Never used a resource pack before? That’s ok! Once it’s downloaded, in Minecraft select Options from the main menu, then Resource Packs. Make sure you do not unzip the file. It needs to stay zipped. To locate the correct folder to put it in, click Open Pack Folder (at the bottom) and drop the resource pack .zip file in. It will appear in the Available column. Select it and then click the > Arrow to move it over to the Selected column, then click Done. It will load it so the models are visible.

December’s Player of the Month is…

It’s the last POTM round for the year! Thanks again for the nominations – we only had a couple this round. Like last month we’ll go through the nominations (not saying who the nominator was) and then announce the winner.

BearytheBear1 (CountDoDo)

  • Always nice to see them playing and helping others, also they always like to play bedwars and pvp so every time you want to you can, unless they are busy 😀

CometCraft42

  • Because they are a wonderful person and I think they shouldn’t stop what they are doing 🙂

And the winner is CometCraft42! Congratulations! It’s been such a pleasure reading all the nominations. Comet will get a special rank in the server for a month, with [POTM] visible after her username, a POTM role in Discord, and two Mega Crate keys to spend in 119Survival!

Nominations are now open for next month!

The Maze Challenge Returns!

It’s been a while since we’ve done a Maze Challenge, but it’s back!

The challenge can be found at JohnsanGeezo’s 1.19 base. There’s also a public pwarp called Maze.

Make sure you take your elytra off for the challenge, but bring a sword – some mazes can be dark enough for mobs to spawn!

Prizes

Every player that completes it successfully will receive:

  • 2 Mega Crate Keys
  • and a Custom Maze to be created at your base!

Have fun!

December Creative Competition – Christmas Carols

The December Comp world gate – located in the Creative Lobby – will replace the November gate which will close to building at 9pm on Wednesday November 30th.

The gate will open in the Creative Lobby on the morning of December 1st, so get thinking (and singing Christmas Carols!) Just as a reminder, here are the major prizes for this season.

Season 2 Prizes

  • 2nd Prize: $100 JB HiFi Voucher
  • 3rd Prize: $50 JB HiFi Voucher

Exciting times!
