LC Empires – Second Round of Registrations!

We had a bit of interest over the last couple of months about how to join the LC Empires map. Unfortunately we couldn’t add new players to the map at the time, but that’s all changing now!

We’ve decided to open registrations up again for LC Empires. Importantly, new empires will not be creatednew players will be added to existing empires, especially those that need a bit more support, or are in high demand.

For those of you that have forgotten what Empires is, read on. Some of the information below has been tweaked for round 2 of regos.

What is LC Empires?

Empires is very much story and lore based, and works primarily on trade. Each empire is responsible for the creation and export of one type of thing – dyes, iron, honey, copper, wood and a lot more. In order to get that item, you don’t farm it yourself, but create a trade system with the empire that exports it. It’s also highly encouraged to get access to the LibraryCraft Discord server if you want to participate. Communication between Empires can happen a lot easier and faster, and a lot of news and communication with the mod team will happen through Discord as well.

  1. LC Empires is a 5k x 5k vanilla map, with the Nether enabled, but not the End.
The End is disabled so trade routes and roads can be established. Elytra and shulkers will be available after a while with a shopkeeper, but not straight away.
  2. Pwarps are not to be used.
Travel is to be encouraged and used at all times! Horses, boats etc as trade routes, and then Elytra after a while.
  3. This won’t be a world that is open to everyone, at any time. If you don’t register, you don’t get to take part.
  4. Empires will be made up of two to four players, depending on requirements.
  5. PVP will be on, but it will strictly not be a free-for-all.
This is not PVPSurvival. Lore and storytelling is crucial, and story should be a primary focus. Story should revolve around empires, the builds and the characters in them.
  6. Declarations of war are a must.
No starting a PVP battle because you want to steal from players or just be a nuisance. A conversation should be had between the two parties to come to an agreement that a rivalry could be fun to do.  Talk about it first! Even Empires SMP is semi-scripted and planned. At all costs should PVP be avoided – come to some other arrangement if you can. Note that any declarations of war/rivalry should not be happening until well into the map/story.
  7. No claims allowed.
If a player messes up once on this world (breaks one of the LC Empires rules), they will be removed from it for good. If it breaks a server rule, jail may happen too. This means no stealing, griefing etc. Again, this is a story based map. No random PVPing, stealing or griefing for the fun of it. Talk to each other and determine whether it would work with the story.
  8. A biome map will be released for Empires players only, to plan locations.
The seed will not be released. Once teams are made up and preferences set, the biome map will be shared.
  9. Each Empire can have a Discord channel for private discussion, plus there will be a new role for registered players, plus a group channel.

How do I register for the second round?

Firstly, and importantly – if you are already a part of LC Empires, you do NOT need to register again! Your empires will not be changing, we’re simply adding more players to the map.

If you are NOT a part of Empires and would like to register, either open a ticket in Discord OR send JohnsanGeezo a mail in the Survival server asking to register for Empires. Registrations will be open until 9pm Tuesday 4th April. You’ve got 2 weeks!

New Collaborative Project – The LC 64 Storey Treehouse!

It’s time to do another collaborative creative project! To celebrate the WA Tree Festival, something that many of our local councils are a part of, we’re going to be doing something a little more literacy based! One of my favourite book series (and I know I’m not alone) is the Treehouse series, by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton. We thought we’d do our own version, so being Minecraft, we’ll be doing the LibraryCraft 64 Storey Treehouse during April! Here’s how it’s going to work.

The rooms themselves will be done in a custom competition world, accessible through the new, and very unmissable treehouse portal in the Creative Lobby, seen above! Note: this isn’t a competition! We’d love to have everyone come and design a room. It can be a room from the books, or something you thought of yourself. Once the rooms are done, the Builder and Mod teams will piece them together in a massive tree for everyone to explore. So…

Saturday April 1st: The LC Treehouse world will open for players to begin building rooms! (Yes, we know it’s also April Fool’s Day, but this is not a joke.) The world for building rooms will be open until Saturday 15 April, 9pm. We ask that you don’t build outside the square box we’ve provided in each plot.

From April 16 to 30 we’ll piece it all together into a huge custom tree for people to explore.

If you want to do multiple rooms, you definitely can, we just ask that you finish one room off before you start another. Get excited! This one should be fun.

February Something You Love Build Competition Results

It’s time to announce the winners and honourable mentions for February’s Something You Love competition.

Remember, there’s a new way to collect prizes! Read on…

1st Place: RubyBird12

Ruby has locked in her first win with this beautiful guitar, amplifier, microphone and even a tune that’s played! Well done Ruby, this was great.

2nd Place: toothless_spy

Toothless has made a PC setup complete with Minecraft being shown on screen! I love the detail in this one.

3rd Place: RatherQuenched

King of the meme builds, RatherQuenched went with the couple in bed meme for this one, and it worked out so well!

Honourable Mentions

We have four honourable mention this round, with players scoring some votes, but not enough to make the podium finish. They each get a diamond block! They’re getting harder and harder to judge each month!

Smaug12345

Grey_Wolf_Gamer

Noodles257

Strawfolk

Well done to all our entries!

Prize Collection

To make things a little easier on me, a Competition Prize Collection Point has been set up in 119Survival! Instead of prizes being deposited at bases, they’ll all be left at a central prize collection point at my original 119Survival Base. There’s a public pwarp – JohnsanGeezo.CompCollectionPoint – that will have protected chests for each player that won a prize – podium OR honourable mention.

Please make sure you collect your items quickly, or you will risk losing them! There’s a few from January still, marked with a redstone torch.

LCBBS Round 2 – The Bases and the Swaps

We had another great response to the LibraryCraft Big Base Swap, with 9 bases submitted. Before getting in to the bases and the swaps, a few little rules, in addition to the ones in the post linked before.

  • All players involved will get a /mail from JohnsanGeezo with your new base coordinates, and who the previous owner was (in case you didn’t see it here).
  • Claims will be transferred by JohnsanGeezo. No need to change them.
  • Remember, this is for modification of bases, not destruction.
  • The items you take from your new chests are only to be used to modify the base, not to stock yourself up, or to be sold. Treat your new base as you’d like someone to treat your old one.
  • When the claims are transferred, all existing trusted players will be temporarily removed. In order to maintain security (new owners don’t necessarily know who should be trusted), no other player apart from the new owner will be given trust access at any level. Please do not ask to be trusted in a base that is currently a part of the LCBBS. The new owners will say no. Once the swap goes back, trust goes back under the control of the original owner.
  • You will not have any access to your old base. You also can’t ask for temporary access, just for a second. Try not to use your /pwarp commands to get back there – have a bit of fun and trust the new owner! Surprises can be exciting.

Ok on to the bases that were submitted! Bring on some photos…

Little445

CountDoDo

Kisney

RubyBird12

CheetahWildcat

RatherQuenched

Smaug12345

Grey_Wolf_Gamer

JohnsanGeezo

Time for the swaps! Because we have an odd number of participants, the list order has been randomised, and we’ll be rotating in a circle. So…

Smaug12345 takes Little445‘s base
Little445 takes CheetahWildcat‘s base
CheetahWildcat takes Grey_Wolf_Gamer‘s base
Grey_Wolf Gamer takes CountDoDo‘s base
CountDoDo takes RatherQuenched‘s base
RatherQuenched takes JohnsanGeezo‘s base
JohnsanGeezo takes RubyBird12‘s base
RubyBird12 takes Kisney‘s base
Kisney takes Smaug12345‘s base

Let the swaps begin! By the time you see this the claims will be swapped over and work can begin. You cannot ask to swap back for a whole month.

What you can do is talk to the original owner and see what they’d like you to do! You don’t need to follow their requests, but it might give you somewhere to start.

Have fun everyone!

The LibraryCraft League is back for 2023!

Time for another season of the LC League!

Like the AFL, it’s a round robin style tournament that will be on for a number of weeks. Each registered player will get the opportunity to verse each other player in the competition, but there’s a difference. This isn’t just one minigame, in 2023 it’s four – BedWars, PVP, TNT Run and Spleaf. Each week will be on a different map.

Matches will be played each week, but strictly between Friday afternoons and Sunday nights – no matches during the week! This is so it’s fair to everyone that can’t play during the week. You won’t be able to verse every person on every map, as it’d take forever – if we get 16 players registered, it’ll be a 16 week competition, plus more for a finals series. Like with our other tournaments, it’s up to each player to sort out their matches. Matches will be available on the LC League Island (image above) in the Minigames Lobby at the start of each week.

If matches are not played between Friday afternoons and Sunday nights, they cannot be delayed to the following week or weekend. The player that puts the least amount of effort in to scheduling a match will be forfeited.

Points & Scoring

Each match you play earns you points, regardless of if you win or not!

Win: 2 points
Lose: 1 point
Forfeit: 0 points

You need to actually play to get a point! The opponent of the forfeited player will get an automatic 2 points.

Prizes

Up for grabs would be some diamond blocks and mega crate keys for the top three at the end of the series, and the top two (winner and runner-up) would get an exclusive rank on the server itself for the following year – League Champion, and League Runner-Up.

Also up for grabs this year are some JB HiFi vouchers! $100 for the League Champion, and $50 for the League Runner-Up.

Registration

To register, send JohnsanGeezo a mail in game. Registration is free, but you need to be available to play each weekend in order to complete your matches and get those points. Registrations close Monday 3rd April at 9pm. No registrations will be taken once the competition has started.

Ladder

The LC League page will be updated on the website that will include the full season draw (the matches), and the current ladder, plus this information and a little more closer to the date.

Last season was massive, so make sure you register for the second annual LC League competition, and ask in game or in Discord if you have any questions.

OneBlock is here!

We’ve got another minigame added to the server and it’s a variation on possibly the most requested minigame on LC – OneBlock!

What’s OneBlock? Similar to Skyblock, you start on a single block floating in the sky. As you mine that block, it reappears as something different. As you level up (by breaking the block again and again), new items will be included. Be warned though, mobs will appear too, and some will be hostile!

To create a new island, use /ob join in the Minigames Lobby. This will place you on a small island, like the one pictured above. Yep, we realise it’s not just a single block, but this is still not bad. The centre block (the OneBlock) is the magic one that will reappear. If you mine the others around it, they’ll drop as normal but won’t reappear, so be careful!

Some commands and things to know about this gamemode:

  • /ob join to start your first island or go back to it from another world in the Minigames server.
  • /ob IDreset to clear your island. Then use /ob join to start a new one.
  • If you die in the void, you will lose your items. There’s no graves in this world!
  • Use /ob invite [username] to invite that player to play with you. NOTE: This will mean they LOSE their island. Players can’t have their own island AND play with someone else.
  • If you just want to visit, use /tpa.
  • Be careful with letting others on to your island – they will be able to interact with chests and break items. There are no claims on this world. Only let players on that you trust.
  • There is no Nether or End in this game, as it’s not needed! Nether and End blocks will appear as a late game level. Nether Portals won’t go anywhere, so don’t waste your obsidian.

If you have questions, ask in Discord or in game! Enjoy!

LC Create Terms & Conditions Form now available!

We’re edging ever closer to the release of LC Create, and the first stage is already upon us! One of the important steps to get access is completing an extra Terms & Conditions form. You can read all about the requirements and the Create server itself on the LC Create page.

It’s important that both the player AND parent read through this form carefully and sign it to say you understand it. Like it says in the form, LC Create is a privilege for our older players and we’re so excited to be able to offer it.

You can find a PDF version of the form here, or if that doesn’t work for you, there’s an alternate .docx version.

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask us in Discord or in an email.
