Meet the Players – aexci

Here’s another of our players – aexci (also known as B4C0N). If you’re a LC player and want to do one, get in contact with John on the LC Discord.

How long have you been playing Minecraft?

The first time I played Minecraft was around 6-7 years ago, when my friend had MCPE on his iPad and whenever I went to his house, we’d go on this world where we had an underwater base, and an island with a big fortress! I got MC Bedrock around 4 years ago and I only got MC Java in 2020.

What made you start playing Minecraft?

I started getting into Minecraft through watching big youtubers play it, such as Stampy, PopularMMOS, and DanTDM. It looked really fun to play and I’d always go play with my friend together.

What type of Minecraft player are you?

We’ll use the following list – based off Mumbo Jumbo’s video – 20 Different Types of Minecraft Player, with a couple of modifications.

  • The Gadget Guy (loves making little redstone contraptions around their base to make life easier)
  • The Resource Hoarder (everything gets stored in piles and piles of chests, even if they don’t need them)
  • The Monument Builder (they always have to have the biggest build on the server)
  • The Autofarmer (farms have to have pistons, daylight detectors, the works)
  • The Explorer (no set base, everything they have is in their inventory. They just walk)
  • The Subterranean Hermits (their entire base must be underground)
  • The Artist (all the pixel art!)
  • The Competitors (minigames is their jam – PvP, Spleef, Parkour, all that)
  • The Code Wizards (whether it’s command blocks or crazy complex redstone)
  • The Mod Fans (Vanilla Minecraft? Nah – bring on the mods and plugins)
  • The Medieval Builders (villages, ships, the lot)
  • The Modern Architect (modern houses, modern resource packs, lots of concrete)
  • The Challenge Fan (Skyblock, Survival SuperFlat, Hardcore Mode – bring on the challenges)
  • The Long Gamers (using the same world since 1.8 or before – such dedication)
  • The Minimalist (a simple house and a few farms will do fine)

I’d say I’m sort of a Gadget Guy – my base is filled with all sorts of contraptions such as 6×6 flying doors to auto-brewers. I’m also sort of a Competitor as I like playing minigames such as BedWars and PVP.

Do you start a world the same way every time, or mix it up?

When I start a survival world, I usually start it around the same way. Getting wood, stone tools, full iron, building a house, and then continuing whatever I feel like doing. Although, I don’t really play a lot of single-player survival, I’d rather play on servers with friends.

What’s your favourite ever build you’ve created?

My favourite build would probably be my build in the January Building Competition. I just liked how I pulled it off and it turned out pretty nice. It was my first time building a decent custom tree.

How many times have you beaten the EnderDragon?

I don’t know how much times I beat the EnderDragon but I’d say close to around 10 times? Most of them come from resurrecting it in LibraryCraft.

What does your LC base look like? What are some of it’s features?

My LibraryCraft base (in NewSurvival) was a huge circle in a Tundra Biome. It has an underground area in the centre for my chest area. I haven’t finished the top area which was probably gonna be where my furnaces and other necessities were going to be.

What’s your favourite block?

My favourite block would probably be the honey block. I mean, if you make a wall of honey blocks, you can basically slide down it! Also the fact that it can pull blocks with it but doesn’t get affected by slime blocks is pretty epic.

How about your favourite mob?

My favourite mob would probably be the slime, it’s a cool mob that can only spawn in selected chunks and has some unique mechanics. The baby slime can be a cool pet to have since they don’t do any damage to you.

What’s your favourite thing to do in LibraryCraft?

My favourite thing to do on LibraryCraft would probably be playing Bedwars with people. It’s just fun to go against your friends and other people in the community. I’d also say that build competitions do come to a very close second. It’s fun with the themes and seeing everyone’s build at the end of the month.

Parkour is Back!

That’s right – you wanted it back, and now it is! We’ve found an excellent new Parkour plugin and it’s ready to go!

The course wraps around the Minigames Lobby, and it’s trickier than you’d think! With fun features like death blocks, launch blocks, no fall damage and much more that we haven’t even played with yet, this is going to be a fun addition.

You can check out the leaderboard at the Minigames Lobby and check it out for yourself. Watch this space! More to come for sure…

February Pixel Art Competition Results

Two months down in 2022! Here’s the results for the February Pixel Art competition. Also, as a reminder, this year we’ve changed up the monthly prizes:

1st: 4 Diamond Blocks & 1 Mega Crate Key
2nd: 3 Diamond Blocks & 1 Mega Crate Key
3rd: 2 Diamond Blocks & 1 Mega Crate Key
Honourable mentions (get at least 1 vote): 1 Diamond Block

On to the results!

1st Place: toothless_spy

In an almost unanimous vote, toothless_spy has absolutely dominated this month’s competition with this phenomenal PacMan arcade game! It’s even got a power cord!

2nd Place: YanaBananaa

YanaBananaa decided to make a little art gallery! This was simple, but very nicely done, and a good interpretation of what the competition asked for. The Among Us image was also really well done!

3rd Place: Meowlicky

Meow changed it up a little, going with some 3D pixel art of Mario chasing a coin! This was just brilliant!

Honourable Mentions

We have three honourable mention this round, with players scoring some votes, but not enough to make the podium finish. They each get a diamond block.

Well done to all our entries! On to March, and your modern homes!

March Creative Competition – Modern Home

On to March! The next competition’s theme is Modern Home!

Time to get stuck into the concrete and modern architecture!

The March Comp world gate – located in the Creative Lobby – will replace the February gate which will close to building at 9pm on Monday February 28th.

The gate will open in the Creative Lobby on the morning of March 1st, so get planning and designing now – you’ve got a month!

LibraryCraft is now on 1.18.1!

That’s right! The 1.18 Update is done (a lot faster than I thought!). The world has been preloaded and we’re good to go.

This is a pretty big update, so please be patient with us as we sort out the teething problems. If you see something is not quite right, please tell us! A couple of things to note:

  • The Survival Lobby now shares it’s inventory with 1.18Survival, as newbies need the kit they get when they first join.
  • The Head Games is open!
  • The Daily Crates are disabled for now – there are some issues with the plugin and the update.
  • There’ll still be a few changes and tweaks in the 1.18 Spawn Cave, but for now feel free to explore, then find yourself a home! You’ll be able to use /rtp on the new world too.
  • The Nether is inaccessible at the moment – we’re working on it!

Lastly, a huge thanks to our amazing build team for the stunning spawn cave! Massive shout outs to Kisney, crazycollie, JtripleM and _pluto_9!

We’re updating to 1.18.1!

Yep, you’ve all waited so patiently, but it’s time! The plugins are pretty much good to go – fingers crossed we don’t have any hiccups, but we’ve waited long enough. All things going well, 1.18.1 is coming to LibraryCraft next week! Things will change, new things will come, but it will be amazing. Here’s what you need to know. Make sure you read this whole post!

What will change?

A few things…

  • Survival Worlds:
    • OldSurvival will be removed and (hopefully) available for download somewhere on this site. OldSurvival was our 1.15.2 world. It’s hardly used, but it needs to go to make room for…
    • 1.18Survival! A brand new world (and new inventory) with the new height and depth, with a fresh and incredible looking spawn area (check out the images for a sneak peek). The current NewSurvival will be renamed to 1.17Survival. You can still access that world, and it’s inventory, but the 1.18Survival world will have a separate inventory.
    • The OldSurvival gate on the Warp Ship will become the gate for 1.17Survival, and 1.18Survival will be opposite it. Trust us, you’ll know which one is which when you walk through the gate…
  • Plugin tweaks:
    • The Diamond Bank will stay installed (as we need it to be), but we won’t be using it to store diamonds. All diamonds should be withdrawn from player banks on NewSurvival this week – before we update! You will not be able to /withdraw or /deposit on NewSurvival once we have updated. You will also not be able to pay people, or deposit in 1.18Survival. You’ll need to make a nice vault to keep your shinies in! Why? Because currently we can’t set up a new Bank per world – they’d be linked, and we need it!
    • 1.18Survival won’t appear in Dynmap for a few weeks, to encourage natural exploration.
  • Server/Gameplay changes
    • The map will be a 5000×5000 map (most likely).
    • Public Nether and End gates will not appear in the spawn area until after someone has made it there with regular gameplay.
    • The /gwarp 117Spawn will be removed and replaced with 118Spawn. If you want to get to 1.17Survival, you’ll need to use the Warp Ship Gate.
    • The Survival Lobby will have a separate inventory to both 1.18Survival & 1.17 Survival. This also means that…
    • The Post Office is going to close! While we were small it was good, but we’re too big now to let everyone have a post office box – we don’t have the space. If you want to deliver something to a player, head to their base.
    • How? Make use of public pwarps and pwarp classes! You can check out how to do it in the Player’s Guide. Don’t want people to be able to teleport into your base? Set the public warp point somewhere outside. This also relates to the next one…
    • The Trade Hall will not be coming back in 1.18Survival! Once again, there’s not enough room, and it means that players can make their shops bigger and better (or smaller and simpler) than ever. Have a shop that you want people to visit? Set it as a Public Shop pwarp and it will appear in the /pwarps list.
    • Players will get extra claims blocks to use in 1.18Survival. We’re still figuring out how many exactly, as you should get some back when we remove claims from OldSurvival. We want to make it fair for everyone, but don’t want to give away too many! If you run out again, you’ll need to remove some old claims from 1.17Survival.
      • As was the rule before, you are NOT allowed to claim areas of land simply to reserve resources. Claims should be for builds only. If claims are found with no building on them, they will be removed by moderators.
      • We will also be asking players not to claim villages. Villages are for everyone to enjoy. If you want the villagers, take them, but do not claim the whole village, or even a part of it, unless you have a build there. There are only so many of them!
    • Lastly, the Head Games will be returning for Season 3! You’ll find the Head Games HQ in the new spawn area on 1.18Survival. Each mob has a chance of dropping it’s head on death. Each head is worth points. Collect heads, submit them each week and the top three points scorers will get some massive prizes! You can even donate to the prize pool to increase the loot. The Head Games will be open from when 1.18Survival is available to players, and will go for 2 months. Plenty of time to collect those heads! All the information you need will be in the HG HQ.

So when will it happen?

All things going well, LibraryCraft will update on Monday 14th February. That’s this Monday! During this time the whitelist will be reset so only John and select staff can access it. This is so the servers can be updated, the new world installed and the world (plus Nether and End) preloaded to stop lag. We’ll run some tests, make a few final tweaks to the new spawn area and then open it up. If you find yourself unwhitelisted, don’t panic! Just be patient. The process could take a couple of days – we’re just not sure. The server’s MOTD (the little message that appears on your server list screen) will be updated to reflect what’s going on.

That’s it! If you have questions, get in touch with us on the LibraryCraft Discord. Bring on 1.18!

Meet the Players – AquaQuokka

Time to get back into these! If you’re a LC player and want to do one, get in contact with John on the LC Discord.

How long have you been playing Minecraft?

I have been playing Minecraft since I was about… maybe, 6 or 7?

What made you start playing Minecraft?

I had overheard my friends group talking about this game called “Minecraft”, and it seemed like an interesting concept. I went home that day, started looking at the app store on my Kindle Fire Tablet, and found the pocket edition. I think it was 1.6-ish? As soon as I loaded my first world… I got ADDICTED.

Probably a Gadget Guy. I just love to muck around with components, and see what I end up making. I actually have no idea what I’m doing when it comes to redstone, so it’s really exciting when I make something new for me.

Do you start a world the same way every time, or mix it up?

A bit of both, actually. However, I often find myself creating worlds, and never actually using them. I’m weird that way.

What’s your favourite ever build you’ve created?

My favourite build? Probably the Pokemon adventure map that I am making with my dad. It was really fun showing our progress to each other!

How many times have you beaten the EnderDragon?

Never. I have visited the end, but no, I have not defeated the Ender Dragon.

What does your LC base look like? What are some of it’s features?

In NewSurvival: A nice little box, with a living room, and uh, a lot of chests. Filled with stuff I’m probably never going to use. In OldSurvival: An even tinier box (1 wide), again, filled with tons of chests with stuff I’m never going to use. I’m beginning to see a pattern here…

What’s your favourite block?

My favourite block is probably Polished Basalt. Its rustic and ashen look is fun to build with, and makes for a good floor. I know it’s a bit dull, but build with it and you’ll begin to see its appeal. I use it in my homes often. I recommend using it combined with stained glass.

How about your favourite mob?

It would have to be the axolotl. I mean look at them. Adorable. I love their cute crawling around, and it’s also nice to know that Mojang is conscious of the endangered wildlife. Also, it’s cute that they ride around in a bucket. I mean think about it. Living in a bucket. Wow.

What’s your favourite thing to do in LibraryCraft?

My favourite thing to do in LibraryCraft is the survival. I really didn’t expect that outcome, because I never have really liked survival mode. But with the beautiful community here, it’s definitely worth the constant deaths.

January Skylands Competition Results

We’re underway for the 2022 Season 1 Competition, and we have started with a bang! This year we’ve changed up the monthly prizes:

1st: 4 Diamond Blocks & 1 Mega Crate Key
2nd: 3 Diamond Blocks & 1 Mega Crate Key
3rd: 2 Diamond Blocks & 1 Mega Crate Key
Honourable mentions (get at least 1 vote): 1 Diamond Block

We had some next level builds this month, with your Skylands builds. On to the results!

1st Place: _pluto_9

Notching up her fourth win is Pluto with this highly detailed group of islands! It’s really well done, so congratulations to Pluto! This means that Pluto now gets the Builder rank, and while not able to enter the competitions any more, she does become a judge, and will be helping out with the builds around the server, including the new 1.18 Survival Spawn! Work has begun and it’s looking incredible. Very lush…

2nd Place: Kursed7280084

Kursed is back with this ingenious build. I love the big chains connecting the islands! It’s a really nice detail.

3rd Place: __B4C0N

Bacon has gone a bit more simple, but no less stunning. That tree is one of the nicest things I’ve seen, and I love the airship and windmill!

Honourable Mentions

We have three honourable mention this round, with players scoring some votes, but not enough to make the podium finish. They do get a diamond block now though!

Well done to all our entries! On to February’s Pixel art, and hopefully 1.18 Survival!

February Creative Competition – Pixel Art

Time to try something a little different – in February we want to see your best Pixel Art!

The rules are in the image above, but you’ll still need this info!

It’s not just about the pixel art – we want to see how you frame it, and what’s around the art itself to complement the build. The build will be judged as a whole, but the pixel art should be the main focal point.

The February Comp world gate – located in the Creative Lobby – will replace the January gate which will close to building at 9pm on Monday January 31st.

The gate will open in the Creative Lobby on the morning of February 1st, so get planning and designing now – you’ll only have a month to build.

December & Emerald Points Season 2 2021 Results

And that’s it for Season 2, 2021! The December competition is complete, the votes are in and have been tallied, so here are the results.

We had some fantastically festive entries this month, when we asked you to build Aussie Christmas. On to the results. This has been a highly anticipated round, with all eyes on the entries…

1st Place: Countdodododo

Getting his third win is Countdodododo, with an incredibly detailed and intricate Aussie Christmas build. There’s animals, a flashing Christmas tree and some beautifully done presents.

2nd Place: B4C0N

B4C0N has opted for the shopping aspect of Christmas – with a Big L department store! I particularly liked the road detail, with all the traffic. A very accurate representation of what happens on the roads near shopping centres at Christmas!

3rd Place: _pluto_9

Pluto has created a beachside wonderland, full of giant candy canes and plenty to do! I love the addition of the treehouse, and the little tiny Christmas Tree inside the building.

Honourable Mentions

We have two honourable mention this round, with players scoring some votes, but not enough to make the podium finish.

crazycollie – 20 pts
kursed7280084- 15 pts

_pluto_9 – 45 pts (39 votes)
