1.16.2 Has Arrived!

Just a quick one tonight – 1.16.2 has been installed and is working. That means that Bedrock users are now able to connect again.

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone back on soon. Time to finish off your August builds – you’ve got until 9pm Monday 31st!

New LibraryCraft Features

It’s been a busy few weeks in LibraryCraft, and the team is excited to announce a few new additions! We’re unfortunately still waiting on an update so that means our Bedrock players still can’t connect, but hopefully it’s not long now.

In the mean time, you’ll have some new features waiting for you when you come back.

New Player Shop System

Out with the old, in with the new! It’s now much easier to sell those items you have. Simply left click on an empty chest with the item you want to sell, enter a price for one item in the chat and hey presto, there’s your shop! You can even change the price easily.

Check out the video for an in depth look at the new Player Shop System. All of this is super important, as we also have a new Trade Island!

Trade Island

The Trade Hall has been closed and repurposed, with all player shops now being relocated to the new Trade Island! The gate for the Trade Island is available on the Warp Ship. We want excellent looking shops on the island (as they bring more customers), so plots will cost you $950.

In order to support the player shops, the Server Shop has been heavily modified. 95% of items are now not able to be purchased from the shop. If you want it, you’ll either have to buy it from a player, or get it the old fashioned way! Get enough and you can sell it and make some money.

Post Office

So what went in the old Trade Hall? Our new Post Office! For $250 you can purchase a Post Office box and have a place for all of your mail to go. Need to give a bunch of supplies to someone but they aren’t on? Put them in their PO Box! There’s even a light that turns on when you’ve got mail to collect.

Log back in and see what’s been going on! There’s plenty to do!

September Build Competition – Space

We’re almost at the end of one of our biggest monthly competitions with August’s Underwater Base builds! It’s been brilliant working with the WA Maritime Museum, and getting all of your questions. You’ve come up with some great ones! We’re really excited to get the responses back.

Next month we’ll be getting back to our normal monthly competitions, with Space!

This one is going to be fun! We’ve got a special space world ready to go with rectangular plots all ready. The plots are 50 wide, 50 tall and 100 long, so there’s plenty of room. Like with August, we’re using our new method of competition claims.

Click the sign on the bottom corner of each plot to claim it. It will cost you $5. Please don’t remove the corner blocks or the sign! The central glass blocks can be used to start your builds.

It doesn’t have to be spaceships! If it’s space related, it’ll work – go full science fiction.

Rules

  • All building must be in Creative Mode
  • This is a Single Player Competition – Team builds are not allowed
  • Builders can claim ONE plot only
  • All entries must be built on the September Comp world
  • Designs must be your own – no copying from online!

Judging will take place during the first week of October. The September Comp world gate – located on the Warp Ship – will replace the August gate which will close to building at 9pm on Monday August 31st.

The gate will open on the Warp Ship on the morning of September 1st, so get planning and designing now – you’ll only have a month to build.

A Minor Update

During the week Minecraft was updated to 1.16.2, which unfortunately means waiting for our server to update again, before Bedrock users can connect. Java players are all good, but Bedrock users will need to wait a little longer! We’re anticipating it will be done in the next few days – as soon as it’s ready, we’ll get it sorted and put a new message up here!

Sorry for the inconvenience! If you want to connect straight away, get yourself sorted with a Java account and get in contact with the team. Also, stay in touch with up to date information on the LibraryCraft Discord.

Survival Build Competition – Results

After around five months of building, the Survival Build Competition has come to a close. Builders were asked to build a house and at least one farm in Survival mode, with items gathered from the main Survival map and bought from the server shop. We’ve seen some incredible builds, and here’s the top three and some honourable mentions, just like always.

1st Place: Xx_Aidan_xX

After months of collecting items and stocking up, Aidan finally created this stunning modern style house, complete with swimming pool. It’s beautiful.

2nd Place: _xXDedukKingXx_

In his standard ‘go tall’ style, King reached for the skies once again with this incredibly detailed and unique build.

3rd Place: EvaLPS

Lastly, Eva went back to the farm with animals and colour galore.

Honourable Mentions

Here are the entries that scored votes but didn’t quite get there.

Tapukoko888 designed this interesting house with some really nice landscaping.

Tapufini888 went with a big treehouse, but unfortunately left out a farm with crops or animals! This was an impressive build.

_ghost5 went with a multi-story build and enclosed farming area. This looked really cool.

Lastly, FreoCraft2 built this really cool series of buildings.

Congratulations to everyone who entered! I’ll be in touch with the winners this week. Some JB HiFi vouchers are on John’s desk with your names on them!

For those of you that have still got builds on the world and want to get them moved to the Survival World, get in touch with JohnsanGeezo as soon as you can. The world has been closed, but John still has access. In order to move them, he will need coordinates of where to move them, and enough clear, flat space to move them to.

July and Emerald Points Season 1 Results

July’s Gates competition is complete, the votes are in and have been tallied, and it’s also the end of the first Emerald Points season!

We had some really interesting entries this month, asking players to build a gate for the coming boss battle world. Unfortunately we’re still waiting on a few things for that to work, but the gates was the first step, so we’re on our way!

On to the results.

1st Place: ShaesWings

ShaesWings created a brilliant looking striking cobra, with the gate hidden in the mouth. This is super cool!

2nd Place: Minxinspace

Minx built this volcano, which would fit in superbly with any Nether build.

3rd Place: Arsomegirl

Finally, Arsomegirl went to the End with this imposing portal building, complete with two End towers.

Honourable Mentions

Here are the other builds that scored votes but just missed out!

Tapukoko888 went big with this End gate design.

EvaLPS built an awesome EnderDragon head.

MrsMood designed an underwater build with some excellent symmetry.

And _xXDedukKingXx_ also went tall with this unique build.

Emerald Points Season 1 Results

That brings us to the end of the first Emerald Points Season!

Here’s the results:

Congratulations to _xXDedukKingXx_, Tapukoko888 and Xx_Aidan_xX for taking out the first season! We had a really close result, with third place coming down to the total votes received during the season. Congratulations to the rest of our points scorers. We’re all really looking forward to Season 2!

I’ll be in touch with the winners this week to tee up some prize collection times. Bring on Season 2!

Welcome to 1.16!

That’s right! The update process is complete and the server is once again open for business!

The Nether Gate has had a bit of an upgrade and now connects to the new 1.16 Nether. It’s spooky but colourful at the same time.

Being a new update, and a large one, there are bound to be a few things here and there that may cause issues, be buggy or just not right. Please report them to a moderator and they can hopefully be sorted out. This is still a work in progress so there may be a bit more downtime needed to sort out the issues that arise from lots of players logging in, but we’ll see how we go!

Bedrock players are also able to connect again, which is great! We’ve got a lot of new players that haven’t logged in before, so we’re looking forward to seeing them in game soon.

If there are any issues with connecting, especially for Bedrock users, please reach out at librarycraft@fremantle.wa.gov.au and we’ll see what we can do!

Bring on the new Nether!

Why can’t I connect?

You’ll probably notice over the next few days that the server is unavailable – you may see it offline, or you may appear to be unwhitelisted.

Fear not! This is just all part of the process of getting LibraryCraft updated and ready for 1.16.1. There’s a bit to do, so please be patient with us! We’re going as fast as we can. If you want speedy updates, head to our Discord server for all the latest information!

Season Changeovers and New Competitions

It’s the end of July tomorrow, which means the end of our first Emerald Points Competition season! It all comes down to this. We’ve had an amazing few months of builds – Ships, Treehouses, Winter and Gates. Next season will be just as awesome, and the points tally will reset, but there’s also a few other big things coming up! We’ll let everyone know who wins mid way through August.

The July world will be changed to Adventure mode on Friday night, so make sure you get your last changes in! The August world will go live on Saturday morning.

In case you forgot, the prizes for the end of Season 1 are:

  • 1st Prize: 1x Steelseries Apex 3 Gaming keyboard
  • 2nd Prize: 1x $50 JB HiFi Voucher
  • 3rd Prize: 1x $30 JB HiFi Voucher

August Creative Competition – Underwater Bases

The August world will also have a new method of claiming plots of land – similar to how shops are purchased in the Trade Hall. Right click an available plot’s sign to give yourself access to the plot. Please limit yourself to one plot only.

Make sure you submit a question for the WA Maritime Museum Science team to be eligible to win one of the amazing prizes they’ve provided. This is a very unique opportunity to ask questions of the team who have been to the deepest parts of WA’s coastline, so make sure you don’t waste it! The first wave of questions are due on Sunday August 2nd, with another wave due mid August, in case you missed out.

Survival Build Competition

Tomorrow also means the end of the Survival Build Competition. It’s been around 5 months since we started it and we have some amazing entries!

From Friday night the Build Competition Entry world will be set to Adventure mode so changes can’t be made. This means that any home that’s used as a regular base needs to be moved to the regular Survival world. Please contact JohnsanGeezo in game or Discord to get this sorted out.

The prizes for the Survival Build Competition are:

  • 1st Prize: $50 JB HiFi Voucher
  • 2nd & 3rd Prizes: 1x $25 JB HiFi Vouchers each

LibraryCraft Head Games

August also brings a new competition – the Head Games! Each mob will now have a chance (some much rarer than others) of dropping their head on death. Registration costs one diamond, and you need to name it with your name (using a nametag) before dropping it down the central hopper at the Head Games Headquarters (the HGHQ). JohnsanGeezo will also be adding in one diamond BLOCK to the winnings pot for every player that enters. So far we have 8 players, so that’s a lot of diamonds!

The competition will go until the end of November, and the prizes will go to 1st, 2nd and 3rd. All heads must be submitted into your own hopper, located on the second floor of the HGHQ. Thanks to Vinemon for creating the building!

Bring on Season 2 and all those new things!

August Build Competition – Underwater Bases – with the WA Maritime Museum!

It’s just under two weeks until the end of July, and we have had some great entries in the Gates competition so far, but I want to get everyone excited for what is next.

In August we’re teaming up with the WA Maritime Museum to celebrate National Science Week. 2020’s theme is Deep Blue, so we’re asking you to build your best Underwater Base. Builds must be themed around one of the following topics:

  • Research Base (underwater research in shallow and deep water)
  • Camoflaged Base (hiding from the monsters of the deep)
  • Exploration Base (searching for a new place to live)

We have created a brand new custom world just for this competition, with huge 100×100 sized water plots. Each plot has a small section of beach.

The WA Maritime Museum has also provided some extra video content for players, covering some deep sea exploration missions in WA. This content will be useful in getting the most out of your builds! Each player will also be able to ask questions of the expedition team themselves.

Rules

  • All building is in Creative Mode
  • Builders must choose ONE topic above
  • Builders must use ONE plot only
  • All building must be done on the August Comp Map
  • Designs must be your own
  • Single player entries only – no team builds

Each base MUST include:

  • A way to get inhabitants and supplies from the Base to the surface (each plot has a section of land)
  • Living Quarters
  • Research laboratories (plants and animals)
  • Water and Air filtration systems (use your imagination)
  • Ocean access for marine life study and exploration (shallow and deep water)
  • Submersible craft or ROV (remotely operated vehicle)

Judging will happen during the first week of September. Judging will be based on both aesthetics (how it looks), and functionality. The WA Maritime Museum staff will be judging the entries as well, with each WAMM vote counting for two moderator votes.

As per normal, the August Comp world gate – located on the Warp Ship – will replace the July gate which will close to building at 9pm on Friday July 31st.

The gate will open on the Warp Ship on the morning of August 1st, so get planning and designing now – you’ll only have a month to build. Players Choice votes will also be open as usual.

Prizes

The top three designs will win an extra special prize, just for August, thanks to the WA Maritime Museum. To qualify for these prizes, a question must be submitted to the WAMM Science team. More information on this is available in game. Regular Emerald Points prizes will be given out as usual – it’s the start of a new season, so points will get reset!

1st Place: 300X 8-LED USB Digital Microscope
2nd & 3rd Places: 25x Brass Monocular Spyglass

These are some seriously cool prizes, so I’m looking forward to seeing the builds and getting your questions!

In the mean time, keep building those gates!
