The September Space competition is complete, the votes are in and have been tallied, and it’s time for the results. We had some really interesting entries this month, with a lot of Star Wars entries!
1st Place: JTripleM
JTripleM gave the server a bit of a masterclass with Star Wars builds – the amount of detail was absolutely staggering! J’s X-wing has also been used in another world, so well done J!
2nd Place: DexterouzDingo
Back and fresh with a new name, DexterouzDingo (formerly known as _xXDedukKingXx_) created not only a Star Wars battle in the skies, but a full landscape as well! This vibrant and flowing landscape was a lot of fun to explore.
3rd Place: MindOfCamo
Sticking again with the Star Wars theme, MindOfCamo built a battle between an X-wing and a TIE Fighter, complete with a frozen explosion. The use of grindstones in the wings was very clever.
Well done to all of our winners! Your prizes will be awarded when you are on next. We also had a number of entries that got votes, but didn’t quite get there.
The September Build Competition looks really exciting. I’m looking forward to taking a proper look through – there’s so much Star Wars!
Next month, we’re planning something fun, and we want your input. This is how you give it to us! The competition theme is Amusement Park.
As you have hopefully seen by now, the Survival worlds on the server will be reset. This allows us to do some new and fun things on the new world, including creating our very own theme park!
Whatever you would see at an amusement park is fair game – rides, sideshow alley, food areas, the entrance gate, whatever! Selected entries will then be moved to a new amusement park on the new Survival World.
Just like last time, click the sign on the corner of a plot to claim it. It will cost you $5. Please don’t remove the sign! It spams the backend when there’s a sign missing.
Rules
All building must be in Creative Mode
This is a Single Player Competition – Team builds are not allowed
Builders can claim ONE plot only
All entries must be built on the October Comp world
Designs must be your own – no copying from online!
Judging will take place during the first week of November. The October Comp world gate – located on the Warp Ship – will replace the September gate which will close to building at 9pm on Wednesday September 30th.
The gate will open on the Warp Ship on the morning of October 1st, so get planning and designing now – you’ll only have a month to build.
It’s been a huge competition for August! National Science Week 2020 is long since over, and we’re in to the new September Space Competition. The votes have been tallied, including the all important votes from the WA Maritime Museum (that were worth double), and the results are in!
This is exciting, as it kicks off Emerald Points Season 2, 2020. It’s a fresh start! Let’s get stuck into the results. No screenshots this time – we’ve got a fancy video showcasing the winners, and a few honourable mentions!
This video will also be shown in the WA Maritime Museum in Perth!
First, the results! We had some truly amazing builds that all showed some real thought and research into how each base worked. Well done to everyone that submitted an entry! You should all be really proud of the work you did. Every build had something that was really clever.
1st Place: CramoisieStar
This base had a beautiful look and feel to it. It was uniform in style and had an excellent layout, as well as some brilliant scientific aspects to it – we loved the animal room!
2nd Place: zxw4
From the elevator down to the bottom of the ocean to the amazing entry dome featuring the new Nether trees, this was a really exciting build to walk around. The WAMM staff particularly loved the interpretation of Subastian – the ROV that was on the RV Falkor.
3rd Place: SpeedCat998
The detail in this build was exceptional! The submarine was excellent, and we were very impressed that power was thought about throughout the base, including using daylight sensors as solar panels.
Congratulations to our three winners! We’ll be in touch to sort out prize handovers.
Check out the video for the in game footage of our winners and some honourable mentions.
We’re almost at the end of one of our biggest monthly competitions with August’s Underwater Base builds! It’s been brilliant working with the WA Maritime Museum, and getting all of your questions. You’ve come up with some great ones! We’re really excited to get the responses back.
Next month we’ll be getting back to our normal monthly competitions, with Space!
This one is going to be fun! We’ve got a special space world ready to go with rectangular plots all ready. The plots are 50 wide, 50 tall and 100 long, so there’s plenty of room. Like with August, we’re using our new method of competition claims.
Click the sign on the bottom corner of each plot to claim it. It will cost you $5. Please don’t remove the corner blocks or the sign! The central glass blocks can be used to start your builds.
It doesn’t have to be spaceships! If it’s space related, it’ll work – go full science fiction.

Judging will take place during the first week of October. The September Comp world gate – located on the Warp Ship – will replace the August gate which will close to building at 9pm on Monday August 31st.
The gate will open on the Warp Ship on the morning of September 1st, so get planning and designing now – you’ll only have a month to build.
After around five months of building, the Survival Build Competition has come to a close. Builders were asked to build a house and at least one farm in Survival mode, with items gathered from the main Survival map and bought from the server shop. We’ve seen some incredible builds, and here’s the top three and some honourable mentions, just like always.
1st Place: Xx_Aidan_xX
After months of collecting items and stocking up, Aidan finally created this stunning modern style house, complete with swimming pool. It’s beautiful.
2nd Place: _xXDedukKingXx_
In his standard ‘go tall’ style, King reached for the skies once again with this incredibly detailed and unique build.
3rd Place: EvaLPS
Lastly, Eva went back to the farm with animals and colour galore.
Honourable Mentions
Here are the entries that scored votes but didn’t quite get there.
Tapukoko888 designed this interesting house with some really nice landscaping.
Tapufini888 went with a big treehouse, but unfortunately left out a farm with crops or animals! This was an impressive build.
_ghost5 went with a multi-story build and enclosed farming area. This looked really cool.
Lastly, FreoCraft2 built this really cool series of buildings.
Congratulations to everyone who entered! I’ll be in touch with the winners this week. Some JB HiFi vouchers are on John’s desk with your names on them!
For those of you that have still got builds on the world and want to get them moved to the Survival World, get in touch with JohnsanGeezo as soon as you can. The world has been closed, but John still has access. In order to move them, he will need coordinates of where to move them, and enough clear, flat space to move them to.
ShaesWings created a brilliant looking striking cobra, with the gate hidden in the mouth. This is super cool!
2nd Place: Minxinspace
Minx built this volcano, which would fit in superbly with any Nether build.
3rd Place: Arsomegirl
Finally, Arsomegirl went to the End with this imposing portal building, complete with two End towers.
Honourable Mentions
Here are the other builds that scored votes but just missed out!
Tapukoko888 went big with this End gate design.
EvaLPS built an awesome EnderDragon head.
MrsMood designed an underwater build with some excellent symmetry.
And _xXDedukKingXx_ also went tall with this unique build.
Emerald Points Season 1 Results
That brings us to the end of the first Emerald Points Season!
Here’s the results:
Congratulations to _xXDedukKingXx_, Tapukoko888 and Xx_Aidan_xX for taking out the first season! We had a really close result, with third place coming down to the total votes received during the season. Congratulations to the rest of our points scorers. We’re all really looking forward to Season 2!
I’ll be in touch with the winners this week to tee up some prize collection times. Bring on Season 2!
It’s the end of July tomorrow, which means the end of our first Emerald Points Competition season! It all comes down to this. We’ve had an amazing few months of builds – Ships, Treehouses, Winter and Gates. Next season will be just as awesome, and the points tally will reset, but there’s also a few other big things coming up! We’ll let everyone know who wins mid way through August.
The July world will be changed to Adventure mode on Friday night, so make sure you get your last changes in! The August world will go live on Saturday morning.
In case you forgot, the prizes for the end of Season 1 are:
1st Prize: 1x Steelseries Apex 3 Gaming keyboard
2nd Prize: 1x $50 JB HiFi Voucher
3rd Prize: 1x $30 JB HiFi Voucher
August Creative Competition – Underwater Bases
The August world will also have a new method of claiming plots of land – similar to how shops are purchased in the Trade Hall. Right click an available plot’s sign to give yourself access to the plot. Please limit yourself to one plot only.
Make sure you submit a question for the WA Maritime Museum Science team to be eligible to win one of the amazing prizes they’ve provided. This is a very unique opportunity to ask questions of the team who have been to the deepest parts of WA’s coastline, so make sure you don’t waste it! The first wave of questions are due on Sunday August 2nd, with another wave due mid August, in case you missed out.
Survival Build Competition
Tomorrow also means the end of the Survival Build Competition. It’s been around 5 months since we started it and we have some amazing entries!
From Friday night the Build Competition Entry world will be set to Adventure mode so changes can’t be made. This means that any home that’s used as a regular base needs to be moved to the regular Survival world. Please contact JohnsanGeezo in game or Discord to get this sorted out.
The prizes for the Survival Build Competition are:
1st Prize: $50 JB HiFi Voucher
2nd & 3rd Prizes: 1x $25 JB HiFi Vouchers each
LibraryCraft Head Games
August also brings a new competition – the Head Games! Each mob will now have a chance (some much rarer than others) of dropping their head on death. Registration costs one diamond, and you need to name it with your name (using a nametag) before dropping it down the central hopper at the Head Games Headquarters (the HGHQ). JohnsanGeezo will also be adding in one diamond BLOCK to the winnings pot for every player that enters. So far we have 8 players, so that’s a lot of diamonds!
The competition will go until the end of November, and the prizes will go to 1st, 2nd and 3rd. All heads must be submitted into your own hopper, located on the second floor of the HGHQ. Thanks to Vinemon for creating the building!
It’s just under two weeks until the end of July, and we have had some great entries in the Gates competition so far, but I want to get everyone excited for what is next.
In August we’re teaming up with the WA Maritime Museum to celebrate National Science Week. 2020’s theme is Deep Blue, so we’re asking you to build your best Underwater Base. Builds must be themed around one of the following topics:
Research Base (underwater research in shallow and deep water)
Camoflaged Base (hiding from the monsters of the deep)
Exploration Base (searching for a new place to live)
We have created a brand new custom world just for this competition, with huge 100×100 sized water plots. Each plot has a small section of beach.
The WA Maritime Museum has also provided some extra video content for players, covering some deep sea exploration missions in WA. This content will be useful in getting the most out of your builds! Each player will also be able to ask questions of the expedition team themselves.
Rules
All building is in Creative Mode
Builders must choose ONE topic above
Builders must use ONE plot only
All building must be done on the August Comp Map
Designs must be your own
Single player entries only – no team builds
Each base MUST include:
A way to get inhabitants and supplies from the Base to the surface (each plot has a section of land)
Living Quarters
Research laboratories (plants and animals)
Water and Air filtration systems (use your imagination)
Ocean access for marine life study and exploration (shallow and deep water)
Submersible craft or ROV (remotely operated vehicle)
Judging will happen during the first week of September. Judging will be based on both aesthetics (how it looks), and functionality. The WA Maritime Museum staff will be judging the entries as well, with each WAMM vote counting for two moderator votes.
As per normal, the August Comp world gate – located on the Warp Ship – will replace the July gate which will close to building at 9pm on Friday July 31st.
The gate will open on the Warp Ship on the morning of August 1st, so get planning and designing now – you’ll only have a month to build. Players Choice votes will also be open as usual.
Prizes
The top three designs will win an extra special prize, just for August, thanks to the WA Maritime Museum. To qualify for these prizes, a question must be submitted to the WAMM Science team. More information on this is available in game. Regular Emerald Points prizes will be given out as usual – it’s the start of a new season, so points will get reset!
The moderators have done another round of voting so here are the top three for June! We had over 25 entries this round. That’s huge!
Like every month, each moderator chose their top three and submitted the votes to me. I then tally them up with each vote getting a score – 15 points for a 1st choice vote, 10 points for 2nd, 5 points for 3rd. The points were added up and the three top points scorers got the wins.
1st Place: Xx_Aidan_xX
In the space of a solid 5 hours of building, Aidan created a beautiful snowglobe! The shaping of this is stunning.
2nd Place: _xXDedukKingXx_
King once again reached for the skies with a large floating castle and a dragon.
3rd Place: TapuKoko888
Koko submitted a very clever Santa’s village. There was so much detail, including a hidden underground Santa’s hideout, and Santa’s sleigh!
Honourable Mentions
Like last month, there were a few players that scored some votes, but missed out on the top spot.
FrankieSquid8 created this cozy winter house with a very nice interior.
Rodger500, built a series of igloos and a roaring campfire amongst the snow.
EpicCracker29, submitted a very nice winter village with a couple of houses, an igloo and a great looking beacon housing.
Finally, ___cosmic__ included a beautiful secluded campsite amongst snow covered trees.
There were so many more entries that were all fantastic builds – a massive congratulations to all who entered. Check out the video above.
The Winter world will be available for a little while longer to get any final Player’s Choice votes in. The top three Players’ Choice builds will get some extra in game cash.
We’ve got one more month to go before the end of the very first season of the Emerald Points competition. The tally so far is:
_xXDedukKingXx_ – 35 points
Tapukoko888 – 20 points
Xx_Aidan_xX – 15 points
toothless_spy – 10 points
IcyDragon27 – 5 points
EvaLPS – 5 points
It’s still anyone’s game! Any of the current placeholders above can sneak in to get a prize at the end of July. It’s getting exciting now. In August we start again with a new season and new prizes!
Congratulations to all! Let’s keep building – we’re looking forward to seeing the Gates!
It’s just over a week until the end of June, so finish your Winter builds and get ready for July! This month we’re doing something a little different – Gates.
JohnsanGeezo is currently setting up a new custom world with some customised bosses to battle. This custom world will have a central gate area, with five different regions, home to different bosses. The regions (so far) will be Valley, Dark Forest, Ocean, Corrupted/Nether, and The End.
We want you to design our five region gates! The best gate designs (hopefully one for each region) will then be incorporated into the new Mob Battle World.
Rules
All building is in Creative Mode
Builders must use ONE plot only
Choose a theme for your gate (Valley, Dark Forest, Ocean, Corrupted, End)
All building must be done on the July Comp Map
Designs must be your own
Single player entries only – no team builds
Actual Gate designs must meet certain criteria in order to work (see examples in the competition world by the world Gate)
Gates will not be functional while in the Competition World
Judging will happen during the first week of August. The July Comp world gate – located on the Warp Ship – will replace the June gate which will close to building at 9pm on Tuesday June 30th.
Also, we will still be choosing an overall top three for the Emerald Points competition. There will hopefully be five different gates that will be moved to the new world.
The gate will open on the Warp Ship on the morning of July 1st, so get planning and designing now – you’ll only have a month to build.
Player’s Choice Votes – Winter
Late next week the moderator team will be judging the Winter entries, and like with the Treehouses, you can add your votes in too. The gate to the Winter world will be available on the upper deck of the Warp Ship. The Winter world will be set to Adventure Mode so no more building will be able to happen, and it will be available for two weeks for players to check out. Voting is done by sending JohnsanGeezoa mail using /mail send JohnsanGeezo.
Players are not allowed to vote for their own entry, and must choose their top 3 builds (you can’t vote for the moderator’s builds). Players are also not allowed to buy or bribe for votes. If you are caught doing this, you will automatically be disqualified from getting Player votes for that month.
The top three entrants in the Players Choice will also get some in-game currency. For more information about the Emerald Points Competition, check out the article all about it.
Get in touch on Discord or in game if you have questions! We’re looking forward to seeing those entries!
