The LC Vault Hunters Player’s Guide & Download Instructions now available!
Friday is the big day! Friday after school, the LC Vault Hunters server will be open to players that have completed the whitelist process for LCVH. If you’re not sure what that is, check out the LC Vault Hunters page on the site. We’re really happy with the spawn area! Just wait until you see it at night. It changes….

In order to make the process as smooth as possible, the LC Vault Hunters Player’s Guide is now available for eligible players to familiarise themselves with. Included in this Guide is instructions to install the Modpack. Note: you won’t be able to connect to the server until after school on Friday.
We’ll announce the URL to the server in the Players Guide and in the Discord on Friday. The modpack and Guide is available now so you can get it set up on your PC, ready for Friday.
If you have any questions, use the #lcmodded-general channel on the Discord, or send us an email if you don’t have Discord access. It’s so close!
When is LibraryCraft getting 1.20?
As you should all know by now, Minecraft Java Edition has been updated to version 1.20! Known as the Trails & Tales update, we get some pretty cool new additions:
- Hanging signs
- Bamboo wood
- a Raft
- Chiselled bookshelves
- Suspicious sand
- the Cherry blossom biome
- Pots & archaeology
- The camel and the sniffer
- plus the armour trims!
Click the image to check out Mojang’s post on it!
It’s all very exciting, and we’re really looking forward to being able to play it in the servers, but you’ll need to be a little more patient. While it’s released to the general public it takes a while for us to get it. Here’s what has to happen before we get it. We have to wait for our server versions to be updated, plus a bunch of other stuff, and it has to be in a particular order.
General release to Vanilla- Bukkit developers update Bukkit with 1.20. Bukkit is the program that lets us use the extra plugins.
- Once it’s stable (a few weeks at least) it goes to Spigot, a better version of Bukkit. Spigot developers update Spigot with 1.20.
- Once Spigot is stable (more time again), it goes to Paper, an even better version of Spigot. Same thing…
- At the same time, all the Spigot plugin developerss get their plugins updated and compatible with 1.20. Some do this, some don’t need to.
- We have to wait until at least our major plugins work before doing anything.
- While all that is happening, the Builder team and the mod team are busy preparing the 120Survival spawn area for players.
- Once the required plugins are sorted, then I can update the server.
- So the server is updated! Hooray! I spin up 120Survival and most likely remove everyone from the whitelist except me so I can preload the new overworld and nether, set up the required permissions and the worldborders. The preloads are very important as it means a much better performance for everyone. The hardest thing for a server to do is generate land as we explore. The preload basically does that all at once.
- Once we’ve tested and sorted everything out with that world, then the whitelist goes back and we do a little more testing on alternate accounts.
- Once that’s tested and seems to be ok then I fix the gates on the Ship and after some final tests, we’re good to go.
In amongst all that is a lot of testing, long hours and responding to the relentless excitement from you lot of “JOHN WHEN IS IT GONNA BE READY!?” It’s all good, but as I’ll say now, go easy on us. I want to play on 120Survival as much as you all do. It just takes a LOT of time and a LOT of work to get there.
We’re working hard on it, but we don’t have a date of when it will be ready. You just have to be patient.
A New PVP Survival Map is coming tomorrow!
We got some great feedback from some players over the course of the two weeks of PVP Survival 3, and like always, we wanted to know what you think, because you lot are important, and you’ve got some great ideas. We’re doing a restart of PVPSurvival.
Play has dropped, which we feel (and we’ve been told) is normal for a PVP Survival map. It’s not a bad thing! Some of you were so stacked it was hard for newer players (or players with less gear, like me) to get a decent foothold in the map.
After some great feedback, here’s what we’re going to do. A rotation of different maps, around for a shorter amount of time. In no particular order:
- No enchants
- Nether Only
- No diamonds
- No meats
- Super small 500×500 world
- Map that gets smaller every day
There’s also a few ideas that will need a bit more thought and possibly another plugin:
- Limited biomes, or a single biome
- A kill counter on screen
- Battle Royale – last man standing. This one would also be a registerable event.

The next map will be (funnily enough) PVP Survival 4:
- 1000×1000 map
- same rules as last time, but we’re also adding:
- No enchants at all (items created or found, plus potions). Just bare armour and tools.
- It’ll be around for 2 weeks (may be extended slightly if play is still popular). We’ll play it by ear but if this one is anything to go by, 2 weeks will be fine.
- If you die, you surrender your gear to that player that caused your untimely (or timely) demise.
- No more than 3 members in your team.
- We’ve also completely removed the /tp commands in the world. No more tping to people! It’s a very small map, so you can walk it. Or use a boat. Or a horse.
In terms of when the first map will roll out, we’re hoping to have it out and ready for after school tomorrow! Stay tuned!
PVP Survival Round 3 is Open!

That’s right! PVP Survival is back for round 3! Here’s what you need to know.
- There is no sign-up required – just go through the gate on the Warp Ship to get there.
- You’ll enter a Rules lobby. Make sure you read all the signs as you go through.
Rules
- If you want to play on this world, you AGREE to the PVP rules. If you don’t want to be killed by another player while on this world, don’t enter it.
- The world is small – 3000 x 3000 blocks.
- No camping or spawn killing – kill and move on.
- No logout location traps. If you saw someone log out, you aren’t allowed to set a trap for when they come back.
- No claims at all, or dynmap.
- No accepting teleport requests from players on a different world. All players need to go through the Rules Lobby.
- RTP is blocked.
- It’s a separate inventory to regular Survival.
- Graves are turned off. If you die with richeties, you run the risk of losing them.
- No asking for items back. We will not be rolling back inventories.
- Looting from chests is fine, but hide them well.
- No griefing. No destroying bases for the fun of it. You can make a two block hole to get in to someone’s base, but that’s it.
- The world is temporary – Term 2 plus school holidays, then it gets deleted.
- Again, the world is opt in only. If you come to PVP survival, you understand that you could be killed on sight.
- No Nether or End.
- No PVPing in the world’s entry point. It’s the cemetery pictured above.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask in game, or in the #pvp-survival-chat in Discord!
Have fun!
We’re swapping out Empires…

While we’ve been nice and busy lately, we’ve not seen a lot of play on the Empires world, so we’ve decided to back it up and then bring it back later in the year. In the mean time, the Empires players have asked to keep the lore going, but we want to offer something else…
We’ve chatted as a mod team and have decided to try PVP Survival again. In the coming week we’ll be getting a small world set up for PVP Survival. We’ve had some fun with it in the past, along with some server side issues, but we believe they’re all sorted, so we’re giving it another go.
Here are the rules we’ll go by, as well as the standard server rules.
RULES
- If you want to play on this world, you AGREE to the PVP rules. If you don’t want to be killed by another player while on this world, don’t enter it.
- The world will be small – 2500 x 2500 blocks.
- No camping or spawn killing – kill and move on.
- No logout location traps. If you saw someone log out, you aren’t allowed to set a trap for when they come back.
- No claims at all, or dynmap.
- It’s a separate inventory to regular Survival.
- Graves will be turned off.
- The world will be temporary – Term 2 plus school holidays, then it gets deleted.
- Again, the world is opt in only. If you come to PVP survival, you understand that you could be killed on sight.
- No Nether or End.
- No PVPing in the world’s entry point. It’ll be obvious.
If rules are broken, you will be removed from the world and may face jail time. Please make sure you follow them!
We’ll be spending a bit of time getting a world set up over the next few days, with the aim for it to be ready by the weekend. We’ll also have another channel set up in Discord for it as well.
If you have any questions, please ask us in chat or in Discord!
New Collaborative Project – The LC 64 Storey Treehouse!
It’s time to do another collaborative creative project! To celebrate the WA Tree Festival, something that many of our local councils are a part of, we’re going to be doing something a little more literacy based! One of my favourite book series (and I know I’m not alone) is the Treehouse series, by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton. We thought we’d do our own version, so being Minecraft, we’ll be doing the LibraryCraft 64 Storey Treehouse during April! Here’s how it’s going to work.

The rooms themselves will be done in a custom competition world, accessible through the new, and very unmissable treehouse portal in the Creative Lobby, seen above! Note: this isn’t a competition! We’d love to have everyone come and design a room. It can be a room from the books, or something you thought of yourself. Once the rooms are done, the Builder and Mod teams will piece them together in a massive tree for everyone to explore. So…
Saturday April 1st: The LC Treehouse world will open for players to begin building rooms! (Yes, we know it’s also April Fool’s Day, but this is not a joke.) The world for building rooms will be open until Saturday 15 April, 9pm. We ask that you don’t build outside the square box we’ve provided in each plot.
From April 16 to 30 we’ll piece it all together into a huge custom tree for people to explore.

If you want to do multiple rooms, you definitely can, we just ask that you finish one room off before you start another. Get excited! This one should be fun.
OneBlock is here!
We’ve got another minigame added to the server and it’s a variation on possibly the most requested minigame on LC – OneBlock!
What’s OneBlock? Similar to Skyblock, you start on a single block floating in the sky. As you mine that block, it reappears as something different. As you level up (by breaking the block again and again), new items will be included. Be warned though, mobs will appear too, and some will be hostile!

To create a new island, use /ob join in the Minigames Lobby. This will place you on a small island, like the one pictured above. Yep, we realise it’s not just a single block, but this is still not bad. The centre block (the OneBlock) is the magic one that will reappear. If you mine the others around it, they’ll drop as normal but won’t reappear, so be careful!
Some commands and things to know about this gamemode:
/ob jointo start your first island or go back to it from another world in the Minigames server./ob IDresetto clear your island. Then use/ob jointo start a new one.- If you die in the void, you will lose your items. There’s no graves in this world!
- Use
/ob invite [username]to invite that player to play with you. NOTE: This will mean they LOSE their island. Players can’t have their own island AND play with someone else. - If you just want to visit, use
/tpa. - Be careful with letting others on to your island – they will be able to interact with chests and break items. There are no claims on this world. Only let players on that you trust.
- There is no Nether or End in this game, as it’s not needed! Nether and End blocks will appear as a late game level. Nether Portals won’t go anywhere, so don’t waste your obsidian.
If you have questions, ask in Discord or in game! Enjoy!
New PVP Map – Magical Oasis!

It’s been a while, but we’ve got a brand new PVP map! A map concept originally by Meowlicky, it was taken over by RubyBird12 with some assistance from CountDoDo pretty early on and has transformed into the image above – a perfectly named Magical Oasis!
The map has been added to the HungerGames setup as a PVP option for a maximum of four players. There’s loads of hidey holes, as well as open spaces to run and cramped spots for a close quarters battle. This will be a fun one, as the entire island is also hollow, to allow for some cave battles too.
Well done to the team for building this great map!
Do you have an idea for a big creative project? Need a map for it? Project worlds can be made available for you in the Creative Server. Project worlds are limited to the project team and the mod team, and you’ll need to submit a written book to Johnsan’s current main Survival base with the following information:
- What is the project? What’s it for, the name, what it will look like etc.
- An idea of the size and layout, so we can create a worldborder to fit.
- What surface you need – void, superflat, water, whatever. We won’t upload custom worlds from players. We can create a world for you instead.
- If you have Discord we can set up a channel for your team, so the mods can assist and provide advice where needed.
- A schedule of work – how long it will take, what will happen each week etc. If a project hasn’t had any progress for a period of time, we may decide to remove the map from the server.
If you have questions about Project worlds, feel free to get in touch! Have fun in the Magical Oasis!
